Small Information: This outbreak manover with the burning ship really existed. Vane also escaped the English. Blackbeard, however, was not there. Vane and blackbeard are said to have been friends. Another thing you seem to have forgotten. Elenor's father was murdered. He was murdered when the two finally got closer. Best point of the father daughter relationship. Who do you think Elenor blames? This probably answers the question of why she is so fixated on Charles. Before Elenor was captured, she wanted to get her hands on Charles for it.

Fun fact. That fire ship thing that Vane did actually happened in real life, by the way. A lot of stuff on the show is fictionalized or loosely based on real events, but Vane is a real person and that fire ship plan to break the blockade really happened. It's one of the most historically accurate things that happened on this show.

This show does such a flawless job with Silver's charisma. First they use it for comedy, and it is fun watching him trying to juggle his many lies and getting people on his side for various schemes. And now that they are in a life or death situation, of course it has to be Silver who does the talking on their behalf. It's impressive that they used perhaps the most comical part of the show to set up such a tense and dramatic situation.

You are so right about how this one episode completely elevates Mr Scott's character - in many ways, he's as pivotal to the progression of this entire story as any of the leads. He has a fundamental part that we never knew about. At first I struggled with the idea that he's so important and yet, we never got to see his importance - but then I thought about how it so works with his storyline. We don't see it, because he doesn't want us to see it. He exists in Nassau to blend in and keep in with the other characters, while making huge moves away from where the viewer's eyes are focussed. His character is absolutely fascinating to me, and yes it is absolutely worth a rewatch on this alone - especially the episode where he ends up on the slaver's ship. Honestly the whole show is worth a rewatch just to pick up on stuff like that for each character, but Mr Scott's character is really up there for me, along with Flint. These characters are amazing!!
@jays4402
@jays4402 3 жыл бұрын
What's amazing about these incredibly fleshed out characters is that the story could be retold from any of the 'side' characters's perspective. Mr.Scott, Billy, Max, Anne to name just a few could all be main characters if the story focused on their journeys.
@jays4402
@jays4402 3 жыл бұрын
Forgot how amazing this episode was, which is a testament to the quality of this entire series. Again, the writing makes the reveal of Mr. Scott feels so authentic, as if we are just experiencing the passage of time through this real world/story and learning of its history. There were a few scenes I noticed that eluded to Mr Scott’s secret. My fav was the convo he and Flint had in 2x4 where Flint was wondering if people knew Mr Scott was “…standing behind both thrones, keeping the world spinning”. The context was the 2 thrones of Eleanor and her father but this new light casts a much deeper meaning to that scene. Yes, I would say Flint is the most complex character I’ve watched. He’s already a complex man that is wearing the mask of an almost mythical figure whose story is being carved not just by himself but those around him. And my fav line so far has to be “Well what the FUCK did you think was going to happen!” as Toby Stephen’s voice literally cracks as he’s delivering that line haha.
@ljsilver1692
@ljsilver1692 3 жыл бұрын
Just Flint's character arc in these 4 episodes alone are more complex than 95% of the character out there. Btw hope 'chaos' is mentioned in every episode till the end. Nikki is over it haha

In the 1st or 2nd episode, Hornigold approaches Mr. Scott and says "I need to know your secret." Mr. Scott looks at him worried. Then Hornigold says "about how to deal with her" referring to Eleanor and Mr. Scott looks relieved Little moments like that you wouldn't normally catch are amazing once you have the full picture. Plus the Flint and Barlow scenes are heartbreaking and beautiful, this show is outstanding!!
@ljsilver1692
@ljsilver1692 3 жыл бұрын
Oh favorite line up to now... Serious line probably "Or so help me god I will rain holy hell down upon him" but any of Flint's speeches really. Comedic line: Silver to Eleanor "I don't know how else to say this except, no. Suppose there's fuck no...Or fuck you" But as people have mentioned, you want good lines.. coming up next..

Flint to Mr Scott about the Guthries: „I wonder how many know that there was one man standing behind them. Standing behind both thrones, keeping the world spinning“ Season 2, episode 4 Another example of a masterfully written piece of dialogue in this show. I am enjoying watching you realize how good this story is. There have been some other good TV’s shows, but they did not build and build, Black Sails only goes forward, no fillers. Other mainstream shows have been great but at some point, have crashed & burned, made nonsensical writing decisions or been a victim of they early success and then self sabotaged the story. I have some show recommendation that are equally great at story telling and under appreciated. These are scattered genres.

@@Mic-Mak The first season, especially on the first watch is very dense. People have said it's basically the prologue of the story and I agree. However it does such a good job building the world, characters and setting the pieces in place for the remarkable journey that ensues. So much of what follows wouldn't mean as much if s1 didn't take its time. On rewatches many scenes were so much deeper and meaningful and the foreshadowing was mind blowing. For me it jumped from an 8/10 on the first watch to 9.5/10. Personally I think the first 2 seasons of BB are a bit overrated and less rewatch value compared with Black Sails

@@Mic-Mak I have a similar mindset when it comes to Black Sails v BB. I enjoy the paternal element delivered from Mr. Teach. He rightly understood Vane's earlier departure as educational progress rather than betrayal. What did Vane learn? Chasing women enthralled by political power is always a bad idea. That old British class structure always rears it's ugly head. Recorded history always seems to neglect to mention that a lot of these Caribbean pirate captains were educated European tradesmen.

Well, Vane did kill Eleanor's father last season to get revenge on her for betraying him and stealing his hostage. That tells me he's over her.

You should watch The Chosen. It's the first multi-season series based on the life of Jesus (it has 2 seasons now). And its first season was the most crowd-funded filming project of all time. It's a really good series.
