Hey guys, for everyone in the comments it's a great thing to give critiques, however it's not okay to bring someone down whilst doing so. Being respectful is key and I definitely think it is unheard of to just say "you can't do it" or "ugh bad". No dancer is perfect and obviously she had some faults but no need to beat her down for them.

i honestly cant believe what people are saying! she is a beautiful dancer and i didn't see anything wrong. everyone in the dance world has room to improve and that's why dance is so enjoyable! She has beautiful lines and technique
@Love0723x13 жыл бұрын
wow. technically..it was AMAZING but i don't feel like she got into it enough...to do black swan u gotta feel it
@paulastern_6 жыл бұрын
She is not bad and the technique is actually very good, but can't see Odille in her.

Paula Rocha she’s young and it’s a competition, so she’s probably nervous. But she has beautiful lines and long legs and neck and arms, she will be a good swan someday, I think
@lkshoemake12 жыл бұрын
think about this: you are not competeing in a competition. You are performing a piece of Odile.
@rens33334 жыл бұрын
I would still kill to have technique like this lmao
@lilal.39622 жыл бұрын
She smiles without evilness, that’s the only problem, other than that she has perfect lines, and quite good technique

Arms are beautiful, she did really well. But remember Odille is impact, gotta put energy on her, stare at the audience.

Beautiful and nice job playing the minx!!

I think she would've done better with Odette variation, Odille requires more strength, more sharpness, and more character. Technique wise, she's okay, just needs more strengthening to be more stable.

She has grace, technique and beauty but there are some flaws like how weak she is in some of the spins...I've seen worse but overall not spectacular, more just good.

KHeartsdiva54321 not everyone is a turner. maybe she she was nervous or off
@Tuesdaymayhew6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the compliments. I was actually a turner but had a lack of stamina at this point in my career. I think the Paquita variation that I have posted was better for me (a little behind the music in that one but still better). Unfortunately, for this Black Swan variation, my rehearsal went much better than the competition (particularly the beginning). I am still proud that I had the chance to perform it.

Lovely dancing. Just wish there was more eye contact with the audience and feirceness for the character

@marinapi92 Yea, I think it might be her fingers

@jinpitakki33 There's more than one interpretation of this character. She's more like Olga Voloboueva.--more flirtatious and subtly evil. Personally, I think it's more true to the character. Odile is supposed to seduce the prince not scare the hell out of him with slithering grimacing evil. I also doubt you'd know when a ballerina is near collapse b/c they hide it really well. This dancer was just a little behind the music. Watch Nina Ananiashvili's face during her bow doing Odile--that's pain.

@jinpitakki33 I guess it's a matter of perception b/c I do see emotion here. You're making a statement that there's no emotion, but I don't see what you're seeing and apparently the judges didn't either. You talk like in competitions they don't take character into consideration. They get an artistic score as well as a technical score. Also, she threw in all those doubles at the end ---again difference in percep. ---she's just behind the music--I don't really see any more pain than usu. on pointe

boring, no fire, no emotion, arms like woods, she moves heavy...look at russian and you will see the true balet
@Tuesdaymayhew6 жыл бұрын
Looking back on this now, I can agree that my character was soft. I didn't realize until seeing the video after the competition, that I needed a lot more expression. This variation was very difficult for me as I was not in the best shape and was unable to dance full time. If you haven't, see Zakharova's Black Swan variation for an amazing portrayal of the character. As for looking at Russian Ballet for true ballet, I am primarily Vaganova trained.
