Honestly, I don't think it's possible to get the full effect of the Beefleaf in NPAB without reading the whole thing - like, Hua Cheng's backstory is important in how it affects He Xuan, etc etc. I would really recommend just diving in and reading the whole fic.

At the end of the day even though Swd stole Hx fate, he couldn't stop mortals from revering Hx in one form or another, they may not have revered him as God but he did get revered as a local hero even 100s of years after his, which is a big thing because there are many people who are called heroes but are easily forgotten not remembered for so long. I think that's the only good thing that happened to him :)

damn i am so in love with his background story, yes its tragic, yes its a total mess, depressing, the most horrible ever, but the fact that you can relate to a character is really important for me. i think mxtx wanted to explain to people how many people out there are suffering without saying anything (he xuan never asked for help, even when he was at his lowest.) i mean, how many times something like that happens to people? we lose connection with our family. we get divorced. sometimes we fail at work or school. and then, anxiety and anger comes. this is why mxtx is one of my favorite writer ever... not only she brigs interestic and hystorical chinese stuff back to life, she also explains mental health. edit: please bring more of these, i love listening to you

If I remember correctly, HX being starved is on of the reason why he died a hubgry ghost originally. But then he decided to devour water ghosts so he could be one, and mess with SWD.

It might have taken another few hundred years to find another one that fits all of the criteria. By that time, Shi Qing Xuan might have alr fell into despair, and he also might not have become a god, which was also part of He Xuan’s fate. Shi Wudu doesn’t seem like the type to wait for another chance. 😅

After reading several comments,shi wudu "best big brother" uh I just want to say that he's a jerk! He was heavenly official when he changed shi Qingxuan's destiny, we agree. He was already friends with ling wen and I think pei ming..... He couldn't have kicked that ghost's ass himself, that's his job! Like ling wen couldn't have come up with a plan to destroy a ghost who was a Wrath rank no even a near dévastation. Seriously? Is that the super big brother with his super powers? I think he could have fought the ghost and avoided the tragedy of he xuan. In truth, he just wanted to keep his brother with him and steal he xuan's ascension ability. He chose the easy paths ....

This is five months late so I don't even know if your gonna see this or not but part of me thinks that Shi Wudu would be no mach for the Reverend of Empty Words. Like...do you have any idea how powerful that thing is? There is a reason why it's the most feared and hated ghost. Shi Wudu, despite being one or the most powerful gods, couldn't do anything even if he wanted to and the Reverend of Empty Word's curse is hard to get rid of. So, he could only swich Shi Qingxuan's fate with He Xuan's fate so the ghost could get thrown off track. You might be like "oh, he could have sacraficed his own life instead" or "he could have found someone who deserved to suffer" but the novel specially says that the only way to swich someone's fate is: both parties have to have the SAME NAME, be born on the SAME DAY, and at the SAME TIME. He Xuan had all of the requirements that allowed the fate swiching to be possible. Finding someone who fulfils all those requirements is very hard to to and it probably would have taken Shi Wudu...hmm, well who knows how long. But by the time he would have already found someone else, Shi Qingxuan would have probably already died. By the way, Shi Wudu will lash out at others if he feels like it is nessicary(if he thinks someone is going to harm Shi Qingxuan). Remember what he did with those madmen when Shi Wudu found him in the Nethor Water Manner with Xie Lian and Hua Cheng? He BLASTED those things with some of his spiritual powers! He could have killed them if he wanted to. Also, at the mid-austumn festival banquet scene, the novel says that NO ONE there would dare do anything to Shi Qingxuan while Shi Wudu was there. So yes, my point is, Shi Wudu will not hesitate to protect his brother. He WILL do it and it doesn't matter who it is. If anyone even thinks of hurting his little brother, that will be the end of them and there is no denying that. Calling Shi Wudu cowardly and powerless for any reason is a mistake. When people say "Shi Wudu was the best brother" they are not saying it because he was nice(which we all know he wasn't), they say it because everything he ever did was for Shi Qingxuan's sake.

I am trying to remember the whole thing, but just destroying Shi Wudu s reputation casting him out of heaven and getting the reverend of empty words latching on shi wudu forever and ever would have been nice enough. Killing a bastard is being friendly and gentle on him but utter despair and horror for eternity... so yeah, the point is that is tragic and meaningless. but not all acts of revenge should be like that. we can compare what happens to the biggest bastard in the series. he also gets defeated. there must be an aesop in there.
