Thank you so much for posting this! This tape came out the year of my conversion. Never, even to this day, have I been a fan of Southern Gospel style music. But this cassete just had special oil on it. "They cant take that away from me", "Id still want to go", "After awhile" oh my! what songs! Thank you for awakening the memories of a better time!

I miss the Singing Americans. This is one of my favorites. Some of these songs are on the cd, 20 Favorites of the Singing Americans. Their project, "Sing Out" was one of my first cassettes of Southern Gospel that I bought.

This album and live and alive are probably two of my all time favorites. This line was probably the best of that era

this is my formative years in music. I remember being in the studio while they did overdubs for Live and ALive. I so wish music was still this great.

Thank you SO MUCH for putting this on You Tube!! In my opinion, the best album they ever did! Michael English was a BEAST on this album....as well as Rick Strickland. I actually had this cassette when it came out in ‘85. Thanks again!

Dude! So did I! Now THIS was a truly Great Album! One individual in particular, Clayton Inman, had sung Lead with the Singing Americans back in 1983, I believe it was. Then, he left the group, and Michael English filled his position at Lead Vocal. Then, sometime in, I believe, 1985, after they had recorded this Album, Michael English left the group, and Clayton Inman came back, and sang Lead Vocals again. What an Album! It, and Live and Alive, are EASILY my two favorite Albums from The Singing Americans. Listening to Michael English sing the song "I bowed on my knees, and cried Holy", from the Album Live and Alive (from 1984), really gets me every time that I listen to it! I love that song! It's easily one of the highlights of that entire Album. One other thing:The Singing Americans did a song back in 1983 called "The Galilean". At that time, Danny Funderburk was singing Tenor for The Singing Americans. A little over a year later, he joined The Cathedrals. Anyway-The Galilean is easily one of the top 1 Percent type of best songs that I've ever heard ANY group do! The message in the song is simple, but it's so overwhelming in it's message and delivery! If we'll just say yes to God, and no to Satan, we can have the liberty wherewith Christ can make us free! It's that easy! I'm glad that God isn't a God that can't be approached. We can receive Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord, and, after we're washed in the precious Blood of the Lamb, as for our sins, God looks at us just like we didn't do any sins, because, after they're forgiven and washed away by the Precious Blood of Jesus, our sins are GONE!!! I'm so glad to know that all it takes from God, is just a drop of that Precious Blood of Jesus to cleanse us from all sin, and we're cleansed. We're CLEAN!!! I'm not sorry for preaching. If you will, although we don't know each other, please hold me up in prayer, because Prayer works! I'll do the same for you.

I remember having a cassette copy of the Album back in 1985, which is when it was put out by, I think, Riversong Records. Duane Burke at Bass, Ed Hill at Baritone (& he also owned the Group), Michael English at Lead, and Rick Strickland at Tenor. Milton Smith at Piano. Sometime after this was released, Michael English left the Lead Vocal Slot, and Clayton Inman rejoined the Group, re-taking the Lead Vocal Slot. My favorite songs from this Album are as follows:Black and White, I'd still want to go, Welcome to Heaven, Great day, and After awhile. The whole Album, though, is chocked full of great songs, and, as far as I'm concerned, it deserved to be one of the top 5 Albums for the year 1985.
