Great video. I have the same hitch carrier coming in soon but it's branded under a different name (Ecotrik). I can see the cradle is probably not necessary or even a good idea on bikes much over 300 lbs since it won't hold the bike up anyway and it's such a pain to pull it back over it. The straps hold it in place. Thank you for not editing out your struggles as well as your successes in using this carrier. I'm using it on a 1/2 ton truck and will definitely use the bed tiedown anchors as well to stabilize the bike. You're so right on the bed being a bit too high to comfortably load the bike onto unless some kind of berm can be used to offset that height difference. That's not always practical though. Thanks again!

I am going to practice with the carrier directly on the grass in my front yard (not attached to the truck). I am hoping to stabilize the carrier on either end with a multitude of 2X4's. This will be for my practice. I'll also figure out my ideal strap locations. I have a Tenere 700 - and like you probably have the same size front 21" tire. Since I have to get the hang of this on my own, thanks to your video, the cradle is a goner! Thanks for doing this video!

I was going to suggest the same thing and take that wedge off. You don't need it because you can put a wheel chalk behind the tire with a strap or bungie. I was thinking of making a temporary 1" square steel bar to connect to the handle bar so it will stay up while I hook the straps.

I have the same carrier but I got mine from harbor freight (it is the exact same carrier). I use it to haul a 280lb dual sport. My personal config uses 6 ratchet straps. 4 to hold the bike to the carrier and then two that attach the bike to the bed tie downs like what you ended up doing. Before I just used the 4 straps it rocked a ton but after adding the straps that hook to the bed tie downs it was wayyyyyy more stable and I've taken it on the highway going 80, on bumpy Montana dirt logging roads in the mountains and it's been awesome. The extra anchoring to the truck makes a world of difference because it makes 3 points of contact vs 1

Hey Wolfman! Thanks so much for posting this up. You are a Viking! Brother that heat is just brutal. I surely appreciate you not editing out the struggle you encountered getting that big, beastly beauty of a bike up on the rack. I had just ordered the Black Widow MCC500 and saw your video. I cancelled that and ordered what you have. My bike is a Honda XR650L so not too heavy, but like you, I like stability when I'm loading things. I'm in Colorado and it gets hot here (to me anyway), but nothing like y'all get there in TX!

I’ve done a truck bed (first Gen Tundra 4x4, truck bed pretty high), a trailer (kendon and generic) and a trailer hitch on a Land Cruiser. Trailer by far the easiest to load and unload. Oh, with bikes about 340lbs. Didn’t love the trailer hitch rack at all. Made me super nervous. My little clamp also didn’t fit for different reasons. I put some JB weld on the junction before I headed off. Good for 1 run then it sort of crumbled. But it worked. I recently sold my kendon trailer. Will replace it when one pops up on FB marketplace. (Mine had no title and I didn’t want to hassle with Tarrant county to get it registered. The VIN was unreadable). Small urban house with no outside room for a trailer and the kendon fits in a normal garage. I wish you well, but long-term, I don’t think it’s a good deal for a heavy bike. Use a trailer, or by an El Camino 😂.

Have used a lighter duty version similar to your model with my KX250 when I don't want to trailer up. In fact, I put a front hitch on my Excursion and hauled it that way when towing a camp trailer to the dunes for a boy's weekend away. Now I have an F150 and take my sport bike with me on extended work trips. Pain in the butt to load in the back of the truck since the bike has little clearance. Sport tires are too wide for my KX hauler, so I may need to pick up one of these Black Widow haulers and try it out.

@ 11:35. Easier done than said. 😂😂😂 Do yourself a favor so the bike doesn’t fall in you. Build or buy an 18” wide X 12” high X 60” long aluminum step with anti-skid tape so it will support you from the middle of that ramp to at least the middle of your truck where the hitch is. If the legs retract it’ll be so compact, it won’t take up any space in your garage or shed. You can also use this 12” tall step for loading and unloading your truck. You were struggling getting that bike on there with almost no room for error. Stay cool .

I don't have your strenghth to hold it off of my tail gate or front bumper. Do you think this hitch would hold a scooter?
