We have black widow spiders here in Southern NM but we mostly leave them alone if they're outside. I'd rather have them around than wasps, which are gross and aggressive!

Black widows as well as their Australian cousins, the Red Backs, which are an even deadlier black widow are the undisputed queens of killing in the insect kingdom. They rarely lose. Once they start slinging their web they already have a plan of attack. It amazes me a creature with the brain the size of a little dot can quickly size up an opponent, come up with a strategy, and quickly implement it. I’ve seen them sling web wrapping up just the fangs and one leg of a woodlouse spider. I’ve seen them in a jar lay web all over the bottom while a preying mantis is on a stick. It layed a bubbly sticky messy web all over the bottom of the jar as the Mantis watched and cleaned its antenna. Then she moved to the branch and laid more and tested the mantis touching it and laying web near it and it lunges at her and down into all that web. In the end she killed the Praying mantis that was 3 times her size. In a jar. And there was room the mantis did fly.

The Wasp never had a chance. The Widow "pounded' it like Sugar Ray Leonard & Muhammad Ali throwing flurries at their opponent. Many were stings if you watch closely. That sting can & has taken down many a Praying Mantis, a creature few in its category can beat & one that is much bigger & has all the tools necessary to beat the Widow. In California Black Widows are common. I have never killed one of them. If you are that passionate about one spider I cant imagine your ass in the Outback lol. I was able to film so close because I was in the house this was happening outside. I also have a camera that zooms in x35 so I was able zoom in a pretty close. If I was going to kill this spider I would have to get up on a third story of the house. I would have a good chance of killing myself let alone that spider.

Black Widows are common here... I assure you that you have a much better chance of getting bit if you try to remove everyone of them from around your house... you just have to know when to look out for them... They usually hide in dark shady places like wood piles or under houses and what not... I have seen thousands of them and have never been bit. I only know one person personally who has ever been bit. This particular one was under the rain gutter of the third story of this house. I will not risk my life on some ladder trying to catch this silly spider. I have always let them be and have never had a problem with them.

D.R. Walton lol, I live in georgia man, they are common here as well. I know where they like to stay, at least the ones around here do. doesn't matter about you it matters about everyone else. most people aren't as accustomed to them and don't know what to look for etc. and they sometimes make do inside your home when it gets cold. inside your shoes and so on. if it's to risk your life to move it, leave if it's a big deal, otherwise if you can just lift your hands up with a container etc or use a contraption made to contain spiders, I would suggest it.

A Brown Recluse is more robust, faster and has bigger fangs, as well as better eyesight than a BW. Plus, also, hellish venom. My money would be on the Brown Recluse in a battle for survival. However, if BR is caught in the BW's web...
