Awesome video! I feel incredibly fortunate, because I get to experience this type of thing, on a regular basis! I have had a beautiful, solid black, grey wolf in my care, since he was just a newborn. He was left for dead at only a few weeks old, and someone happened to come across him, and then she ended up contacting me, to see if I'd be willing to try to save his life. (I worked for a company, for several years, that was focused on this type of thing). He was in VERY bad shape, and the likelihood of him surviving, was slim to none. Miraculously, he hung in there, though! He is now a huge, majestic, healthy, handsome 3-year-old, that looks just like this wolf in the video, only that he is entirely jet black. Wolves are amazing animals! I feel like the luckiest person ever, to be able to have such an amazing, wild animal, as my companion!💙🐺💙

Actually it is a lone wolf! The term alpha has nothing to do with size and more to do with dominance and leadership skills. The coyotes were very lucky it wasn’t a pack of wolves as they hate coyotes and will chase them down and eliminate them.
@robertperrotto8702 жыл бұрын
No - not an alpha nor part of a pack. Not an alpha because the tail is down. Nor part of a pack because there would have been others at that kill. More likely a young male searching for a mate. Judging by its size and health, its been very successful hunting/scavenging dinner. The term "Lone Wolf" is sort of a misnomer, as wolves are extremely social animals, and do not stay "lone" for very long. one of two things will happen to this wolf, either it will be Successful in finding a mate and be accepted into the females pack, or, it will be hunted down and killed by a pack for being in the packs territory. Either way, it doesn't stay "lone" more then one season, and its chances of survival diminish as winter draws closer.

It's like a lion hyena relationship. The wolf was bigger and stronger, but when the coyotes began to do a call the wolf decided to leave just in case more coyotes showed up. Even lion will die if too many Hyenas show up, and even a wolf will die if too many coyotes join the fray. Cool video though, nice no one died or got hurt even.
@samo60834 жыл бұрын
Depends, a large experienced male lion is too much for even the largest packs of hyenas. There is literally a video of a male lion sleeping in the middle of a large pack and as soon as he put his head up they scattered
@robertoromero80534 жыл бұрын
@@samo6083 Well you gotta remember that Hyenas have a much stronger bite. If they outnumber lions enough and they have a reason to fight they will. In that instance the Hyenas probably had no reason to fight so they just left. Lions will do the same. If they have no reason to fight a Hyena they'll just walk away. No point risking an injury to gain nothing
@samo60834 жыл бұрын
@@robertoromero8053 Bullshit, I've seen hyenas get hunted by lions for sport 😂 and bite force is overrated. People like you clearly ain't seen many fights in the animal kingdom. As long as one animal has enough bite force to break bones and server major arteries that's enough. Anything more is just overkill. I've seen lions snap hyena necks like it was nothing. I'm telling you bite force doesn't mean much when its between a lion and a hyena. All hyenas know not piss off a large dominate male lion, I've never seen one of them get killed by a pack of hyenas. Only smaller males or female lions
@robertoromero80534 жыл бұрын
@@samo6083 You clearly dont understand much about animal behavior. Most animals prefer not to get into fights. Grizzly bears back down from mountain lions even, cause there is no point in risking an injury. The lion had to have a reason. If a hyena were to clamp down on a limb it could break the bone. The lion would win, but wouldn't last much longer cause of its injury. This is why lions target young weak animals when they can. Its safer. Cape buffalo have gored and crushed the biggest of lions. Hyenas can cause injuries that can prove fatal. Very few animals are powerful enough to attack without risk to themselves. Things like elephants can do whatever they want. Lions, not so much. If a lone lion makes a kill African Dogs and Hyenas can take it. Lions are much faster, but Hyenas have MUCH more stamina. A large pack of hyenas could exhaust and kill any large lion. It's just they'll suffer casualties, so it is not worth it. Self and pack preservation are a thing. That's why a huge pride of lions will run away from an angry elephant. They don't want any casualties, so they just back down.
