LMAO!!! This discussion is about 40 yrs too late. As a dark skin dude that grew up in the 80's it always cracks me up to hear black women scream and cry about "colorism" when nobody practiced it and pushed it harder than them. But now that black women see it as a form of rejection it is a big problem. LMAO!!!!

When bw see a black newborn for the first time , they first check for the baby's skin tone , eyes color and hair texture. The closer those are to caucasians' , the prettier to them . That's the epitome of colorism . A bw on a Dennis Spurling's stream said something we all knew all along. That bw never abort mixed kids , only the full black ones ...

Projections. Anytime, I hear sisters complain about b/men. I always test to see if those same accusations, apply to them, and 9/10 it always does. Especially this "b/men, just want white w/man for light skin babies and social status!", there are definitely black men, like that, but I have come across much more sisters with that mentality. This is why, they will gladly date a lame white guy, but never a lame black guy, because a white man, that is a 5, is really a 8, for this type of b/wman, whereas a average black guy, is a 3 to them.

Really glad you made a video on this. So let me now tell you about my experience. I’m a black man of Caribbean descent from the UK, and all the colourism I saw growing up came from my mother, who always put light skinned black people on a pedestal. My dad on the other hand never did this. I visited the Caribbean with my mum and sister when I was 17 and we stayed at my granddad’s house. I had a holiday fling with a local girl who, like myself was dark skinned. Her complexion was not something I even thought about until my mum started talking disparagingly about how she was “black as the ace of spades” and saying “wouldn’t you prefer a girl who could give you children with straighter hair?” I brushed those comments off but was shocked she even thought that way. Over the years she’d make similar colourist comments (one that stands out is “One day when we get to heaven we’ll find out why god decided to make some of us dark”). When I challenged her about these views one day, she brushed them off rather condescendingly by saying “You don’t understand because you weren’t born in the Caribbean”. What of course she could not understand herself was that being born in what is essentially a white country (ie the UK), arguably makes the colourism conversation even more vital. Despite all of this, I never internalised her colourist thinking, but I’d wager that a lot of black men who’ve aired such tendencies probably have mothers much like my own. In short and as you mention, colourism is not unique to one gender in the black community, but only seems to be an issue when black men do it.

What you say is certain. Some black mothers have instilled colorist tendencies in their children. Which is a shame. My African friends used to say I’m not black. I was offended until I understood what being black was. Your blackness only exist in the context of whiteness. Places where everyone is melanated, no one is black. So yeah colorism is an white vs. black thing for the most part. Of course black women have always been able to date other groups of men that were lighter or whiter and no one says a word. Only black men get ridiculed for colorism. I think colorism is a major issue in the black community and yes I've seen women fuel it just or even more then men. I've been rejected by black women of different completion because of my complexion but those same women would demonize black men for the same views. I've seen dark complexion black women openly say they'd only date a dark complexion black man or white man but exclude brown or lighter complexion black men. Make that make sense. Alot of people have undiagnosed trauma that guides their actions and belief system. For some people being dark is their automatic default. Some one rejects them because their dark, didn't get a job because their dark. Any an everything bad or unfavorable is because their dark no other possible reason.
