So happy you've discovered Blackadder for yourself! I myself have tasted 4 of their drams and own 2 of them. One is a red snake, the other is a 'regular' Peak Reek Raw Cask. One of the best drams I have ever tried. NAS, Single Oak Hogshead, 61.3% ABV, bottle number 125 out of 262. Extremely sweet, peppery, campfire smoke-y and most importantly, the most intense notes of dark chocolate. Plus, it almost looks like a new-make whisky, practically no color at all. If you can get your hands on it, I highly recommend it. It cost me about 120€. Edit : I also highly recommend their Smoking Islay line, they tend to lean into peated Bunnahabhains flavor-wise. I have a black adder Ben Nevis bottle. I can't say that I have seen many bottles with a decent amount of barrel char. The char does come from the barrel but most bottlers either chill filter or at least course filter the char out. I have seen a few small char pieces in a few bottles but not many. After working in the food and Beverage industry for decades I hope Black adder filters char greater that 1/4 inch out of the bottles. Anything over 1/4 inch is considered a choking hazard. Keep up the good videos.

That's good to know. Nothing that large is in the bottle so I think chocking won't be a hazard.

I got 2 Blackadder Scotches from the Total Wine Concierge program a couple of years ago. They’re all safe in the bunker. Can’t wait to taste them with and without the barrel embers.

A play of word: like puff-adder, black-adder is a snake type . . . old bottlings have picture of a black-and-white/gold snake slithering along the left upper quadrant . . . "bottom char" was meant for authenticity and nostalgia only, meant to be cloth/membrane filtered by the time one gets near the bottom . . . i always let it sit after shaking, then pour the char-less dram.

My local liquor store has a different bottle and I think the snake is all black with a red tail or head and placed in the same upper left location of the box. It's less expensive than the Peat Reek.

@@whiskeyisajourney I'm curious to know more about it. If we get drunk with that product, will it give us a hangover? Some good single malt do sometimes give us hangovers but others don't. Just a thought 😊

I don't see much Black Adder since the 2000s. I kinda think of Black Adder as the original Compass Box. Not sure if that is actually accurate.

I thought the barrel char was going to be gimmicky and it still might be but this is really good. After drinking it after the review I'm going to bump the score up to 4 out of 5.

@whiskeyisajourney - I think that is a common gimmick, not sure if that is the right word, for Black Adder. I have one bottle with Dalmore juice. But I have seen a couple bottles during the later 90s and early 2000s and all of them have labels saying something like includes sediment.
