Its crazy how you use random colors and they end up just.. making sense. This is my favorite piece of yours to date!
@1hermitcrab4u2 жыл бұрын
I totally agree. My favorite too
@_helmi2 жыл бұрын
The "making sense" is actually called values and takes a bit of practice to master it. To demonstrate this, use only ONE colour of your choice and draw maybe a portrait (A). Then, draw the same portrait (B) but with multiple colours like you would normally do. Take a picture of these two drawings and convert them into black and white. Now, upon comparison, if the values are correct, B should be similar to A where you can distinguish the shapes like the lips, brows etc.

Grab a bunch of random colors and take a picture. Next, edit the picture and take out all of the color saturation so that you have a grey scale. That is an easy way to explain what value is visually! If you want to play with a rainbow of color values, organize those random colors from the lightest value to the darkest value, and use a black and white picture reference to practice! You’ve got this!

Wow, I woke up this morning, with a text saying I need to watch this video from a fellow artist friend I personally know. Then later another text from another friend. Christian I am so honored that you would thank me in such a way. This is the most thoughtful and sweetest display of gratitude I have ever been giving. I appreciate this kind gesture so much. I appreciate YOU even more. I sent you those supplies to let you know how much you inspire me and how your videos has gotten me through some tough times. I never expected anything in return. Especially not something this grand. I can’t thank you enough. For you to do all of this was beyond anything I could have imagine. I truly appreciate you. For all you do. You educate us, you entertain us, you inspire us. You are tremendously gifted and talented. And we appreciate you sharing your gifts with us. I am so pleased with the beautiful self portrait you created. I can’t wait to see what else you might create with those supplies in the future. Seeing you create such beautiful works of art with supplies I gave you fills my heart with so much joy. I hope you do get a sponsorship from Caran D Ache. You are truly the Pastel King, to us, your fans. Hopefully Caran d’ Ache can see in you what we see. I look forward to seeing all of your videos every time you post. I really like the realistic smooth look you created with the pastels. I am super proud of you. I know your career is going to soar. I don’t understand how someone who makes such amazing beautiful art can feel insecure. You’re to hard on yourself my friend. Even when you say I rush and didn’t feel like it….it always turns out so mind blowingly amazing 🤩
@macdieter235582 жыл бұрын
That´s how artists are. Always a little insecure! "But it was only me who painted that!" Microsoft went a different way:"It´s not a bug, it´s a feature!"
@fallensway8552 жыл бұрын
Because it’s the same as anyone who makes things. . . . . . Heck people as people, because we are so close to us and what we are doing all we see are the flaws, what could have been done better a line that wasn’t exactly how you want, colour inconsistencies, it’s not how you pictured in your head ect or even with people you may think are stunning, they may see pigment issues, large pores, wonky something, lips too big/small ect the list goes on & on & on. The thing about being told you shouldn’t feel insecure or question or critique your own art/body/life is rather invalidating of their feelings. Just because they’ve put in many tonnes of hours of work to get where they are doesn’t change the brain (because it’s typically an unmitigated inflamed butthole) & likes to typically focus on any & all flaws it sees real or imagined & make them so much bigger than they really are.

So I'm not the only one who noticed this. Feeling insecure can sometimes be a good thing. It motivates you to do better. However, verbalising it so people can actually hear it (in this case via video) would harm you in the long run. The verbalising negates your self esteem.
@CatharticCreation2 жыл бұрын
that insecurity is a double edged sword. on one hand, it can be demoralizing but on the other hand it also gives you the motivation to get better. that's why most great artists are highly critical of their own work. they couldn't get to that level if they didn't see the flaws and improved on them.
