Moose is both right and wrong. Humans are basically an invasive species. However, there are things we can do that are less harmful than other options, such as re-using oil pastel nubs instead of buying more. Being a human is bad for the planet, but if I can pick a less wasteful option, I’m definitely going to try and go with that.

At the art store you can get good oils for those, I believe walnut and linseed oils are good.

I do something similar. I collect all the left over pastels and nubs and reuse them to make new ones. That way I dont have to run out every time and buy new sets and clean up after myself

Next time sprinkle a Lil coconut oil or water in the pot with the pastels to see how it works with the consistency of the way the pastel comes out. Or maybe soak some of the old one in a Lil oil first but that sounds a lot like work.

This was so cool. I will take your advice and not do it at home because I am so clumsy. If you're worried about the structural integrity of the little plastic container you used to heat up the oil pastels, I recommend using a glass cooking bowl. They're really strong and they can withstand loads of heat.

First of all rude, it's been a rough week XD second of all if you do this again a metal cup and a candle warmer works great to mealt oil pastels also lipstick molds, or even a candy and chocolate mold would work good and take the heat well, (I did a melt crayon project with my niece, and she grabbed an oil pastel by accident)

We had to make oil pastels in a drawing class I took. We had to buy these special pigment sticks that looked kinda like super thick dry pastels, and then soaked them for several days in linseed oil. Then you could use them just like an oil pastel. They kinda stank though.

I found some oil pastels at what was my local art museum (Newfields, Indianapolis, Indiana) and I haven't found them anywhere else, but they are AWESOME! If you ever stumble upon a set of Ooly Twisty Stixx oil Pastels jump at them, hon! They are worth the money for 24 colors

DUDE I am so glad i got this video reccomended, after watching this I watched a lot of your videos and I'm so glad I found an art channel with your ( and mine) type of humour, also the gremlin noises you make...yeah I think we share a few braincels🧠🤝🧠. this video is making me want to look for my old pastels and melt them,and just in general try oil pastels again,which might be good because I have been fighting art block for so long.
