It’s not about being an enemy, look how BB set up waiting for Luffy, Law, or Kidd to show up. He straight up said “I knew one of you would come here and I was gonna jump whoever it was”. He got his nullifying power since it helps even the playing field if he’s fighting a DF user that’s got proficient haki. He can at least shut down the DF part and rely on the shock factor to get the drop on them before they go full haki use. It’s also not known how much haki is needed to cancel the YYNM. It wouldn’t surprise me if Luffy gets some hella CoC training in Elbaf which lets him cancel out the YYNM.
