He’s in full time employment a little above minimum wage and has been on the waiting for a council house for 4 years. Meanwhile around 150 african families are moving in weekly around him. They offer private landlords, through Serco, 7 year contracts with all rents, rates and utilities paid for that time. I expect landlords surrender their property for guaranteed income because the government is very anti private landlord and are making it extremely difficult and expensive for landlords to get vacant possession of their property when they have a problem tenant, ie one in arrears or has caused damage or does not allow access for necessary gas safety checks and repairs etc.

It is bizarre. The Ginger Witch is driving through 1.5 million new houses. Our council is ‘voting’ tonight on their Master Plan - 2100 houses on declassified Green Belt land (that is currently farmed) to bridge the nearest town (in another county) to a village. It makes a lot of sense, just not from the perspective of someone with a functioning moral compass. Executives claim housing success by meeting targets of people housed. How the accommodation is provided is not statistically relevant. Normally public sector housing becomes available from home moves, lawful evictions or deceased residents. It creates a natural flow of vacancies. But if that is not enough to tick the council efficiency box harsher measures are needed. These are senior council officials and solely concerned with career advancement, which this 'success' achieves. It is sociopathic. This is not a new problem. I narrowly avoided something similar ten years ago and it has been going on since Blair. What is unusual is that press attention has been garnered on this instance.

I had almost the same, landlord next door upped the rent by 400% so tenants had no choice but to move out, now have a family with 9 kids from Africa...all rent is paid for them by govt. as is heating, electricity, broadband etc (they told me when I spoke to them)...no one working in the house but they can afford ubers to go shopping...I cant even afford to do the shopping bit, my gas & electricity bills are ridiculous and I've paid tax for 40+ years :(

Sorry Daniel, we are a professional family who rent. We live in large unfurnished properties and in the last 10 years we have had 3 Section 21 notices. It's cost us thousands and they have all been to increase rent by re renting the property. Here in Northumberland most people rent but we've lost thousands of properties to holiday let's. The system is being abused and its deeply unfair. We have multiple issues with the house we are in at the moment but the landlord, a large estate, simply sells properties when they become too much of a burden to him..this means we get evicted so they use the 21 as a means to force us to put up with sub standard accommodation. This is illegal but they know that in practice we will end up being forced out. There is a chronic shortage of housing and at the moment they are abusing the short assured tenancy using it for large unfurnished expensive lets when they were designed for student flats. Yes over regulation isn't the solution but Section 21 is being roundly abused

We have a middle aged neighbour Tracy who is a tenant of the property she has lived in for as long as we have lived here and owned ours. 4 years. She had decorated her home and has had new carpets laid. Pretty much all done in 2024. She is now being evicted because her landlord has stated the house is now worth more money per month but she can not afford the increase. She caused the problem by making her home more pleasing for herself but now her landlord wants more rental payments because it is now worth more. She did this for herself, but now her landlord has had his property redecorated FOR FREEEEEEEEE and can get more money for it. What a disgrace. I did tell her this might happen but Tracy has dignity and didn't want to live in the mess it was. Now she has to move. So sad.

2 years ago, I (plus wife and 2 kids)was given a section 21 notice of two months a week before Christmas. Only through borrowing from everyone we know and the luck of the Irish could we find somewhere at the last second. And my old neighbours said they now there is a massive south-aisan group living there.

They probably feel that these tenants could rent privately, but there are people on their waiting list who cannot so they want to put them in to their council owned houses. From a financial point of view if it costs them more to house them in a hotel or temporary accommodation that is costing more than the house they can put them into. It is however massive hypocrisy to evict people with a section 21 notice. In addition it’s a wider problem if these tenants awaiting housing are non uk nationals who are not contributing to the economy. Maybe ship these people waiting for accommodation to another area where there are spaces. If you are on benefits you don’t get the right to say where you want to live. Labour = hypocrites.

I was subjected to a section 21 eviction a few years ago, I was given 3 months notice as a gesture of kindness by the landlord who had sold the property to developers. They are now building 80 homes where i was renting. If you don't have a section 21 as a landlord, then you have a long drawn out expensive legal process that most tenants cannot afford to defend against. The result is the same, Little guy gets made homeless. The local authorities response to people subjected to no fault evictions is woefully inadequate, despite being in contact with the council from the start, I got a call three months after being evicted from the property stating that if i get rid of my dog and my car then i can be temporarily housed in a bedsit in slough 30 miles away. Obviously i had sorted other more suitable options by then, thanks to friends and family. Good for nothing these traitors in power.

I remember being puzzled 30 years ago when a thirty year old replaced a retiring headmistress at our local school. My thoughts went along the lines of what experience and wisdom does a thirty year old have to be placed in such a position. Lets roll forward to now, with Angela Rayner holding her position, then we had Trudeau and Macron - all far too young for their positions. I guess it was all part of the master plan. Replace learned wisdom with a bunch of jumped up narcissists, all the better to manipulate them. Angela Rayner does not have the knowledge, life experience or wisdom for anything other than to be a puppet in the hands of those who manipulate. But she believes she's doing a good job, her proud family might even believe in her. Her stunned reactions sometimes reflect her immaturity and she doesn't have the wherewithal to mask her lack of knowledge.

I read about this in a broadsheet newspaper. The salient fact here, I believe, is that the council has now reclassified the accommodation in question as 'temporary' accommodation. Which is undoubtedly for use in housing illegal immigrants, instead of other, more expensive, accommodation. As we will see going forward. The indigenous population will be uprooted, pushed out and disadvantaged for the benefit of economic migrants - who will never make a contribution to the economy and remain a net drain on society; as per government statistics. I'd recommend anyone who can leave the UK, to do so at the earliest opportunity - the country is finished.

My local council has removed over TWO THOUSAND people from its housing list. Teenagers living with parents, married couples living with relatives, people with children living with relatives. Only those who are seriously overcrowded , escaping abuse, or needing properties specific for the disabled. The council blame lack of council houses, "Maggie Thatchers fault" but, up to 9 years ago they were allowing residents to take a mortgage on their council house then swap with a relative, take out a mortgage on that house, swap with another relative, using the monthly rents they accrued from relatives to pay the mortgage. There is a taxi driver of a certain demographic in town, who ha acquired 8 houses in this manner. He complained bitterly when the local authority, after public consultation, stopped residents doing this, he claimed it was damaging his pention portfolio.

Private tenant rentals are getting scary now. Landlords are prioritizing migrant housing contracts for the guaranteed and often over the rent level payment with the contractors paying for rent, utilities and any damages. It is incentivizing landlords to evict UK tenants and it is driving rents up. This council is just doing what many private landlords are doing. It needs to be stopped.

I grew up in Lambeth, they are such a bad council. They stole my right to a postal vote when I was in the RAF in Germany. They also would not allow me to get on their housing list again because I was in the military. They changed the water system in the glats my mother lives in and because she owns her own flat she was without water for over 6 months, they'd forgotten to plumb my mothers flat in to the new system... Earlier as a school boy I past the 11 plus, and got sent by Lambeth council to the worst school in the borough it was not only me 4 of my friends were sent to the same school. More recently they wouldn't help my mother when she was discharged from hospital. They are the worst council I have ever had dealings with..

i've worked in construction for more than 2 decades and the amount of money handed to the Government for s106 agreements that was NEVER spent on those things by the government (who knows where the money went) is staggering. I heard that some private landlords are paid by the council to take on council tenants. Maybe these tenants and landlords are being means tested. Hopefully BBB can correct me if I’ve got this wrong.
