Efficiency, convenience and productivity I'd go with blackberry 10.. if you want a phone for get up or a toy I'd go for android and IOs. Blackberry has pretty much handled the design and how the OS should be integrated into the phone. Oh and one more thing you really forgot all the cool features of the phone. just sayin'

This OS is still an engineering Marvel. It's based off on a qnx micro kernel. Basically the kernel was locked out from the user space, and thus no apps ever ran in the kernel, this allowed them to side load another pocket kernel to get Android apps running. It's still so difficult to pull off what they did in 2016/17

+Souleye Diongue Idk what to do at the moment, I have my blackberryQ10 now for like 2 years and I love the BB10 operating system but I really need a new phone. I first wanted to buy a Samsung to just try it out but I love the BB 10 OS so much and I don't think that I want anything else and I'm also kinda scared that it's going to be a waste lol. The BB Priv uses android so that's not an option, should I just buy the blackberry Z10 or Z30 or should I just go and give Samsung or something else a try? All I'm looking for in a phone is to watch tv shows and movies nicely, that I can download music and put it on my phone like I can with BB and not to use an app instead and also music sound has to be good and hard, email has to go as smoothly as it does with BB and browser has to be fast. I don't game or anything else I only use 2 android apps called wattpad and weheartit that's it xp. Does anyone have any recommendations?

if I tap and hold a song, another context menu pops up for that song that allows me play the song via bluetooth, share music (via text message, bluetooth, email, or any other app that allows file transfers), make the song a ringtone, add to playlist, etc. The same is true if you press the menu button in the 'now playing' screen. The file explorer also allows manipulation or items (files/folders) and app settings via comprehensive, pc-like context menus, so do other list based apps such as (cont)

Eyoldaith I got the Z10 and the Classic. It depends what you want from a phone. If you wanna use it mainly for texting, social media or web browsing (the browser is stunning fast) - it's great! If you wanna play games or watching videos I would not recommend it (especially because of the screen ratio of the Q10). What is superb is how secure the device is, you are able to set what app have access to, which is unique. The OS itself takes a few days to get used to, because of the gestures, but after that time you won't wanna miss this and the Hub. OS10 is also the only OS on the market that supports real multitasking.

Blackberry 10 os is the fastest operating system out there, trick is to work out what actions you perform the most and set them up as shortcuts. All touch bb10's are always one tap slower than the hardware qwertys. I have 26 hotkey shortcuts, on each of my BlackBerry10 devices. I generally don't use the shortcuts for app launching because it's best to just open the apps you use most at the start of a working day and switch from one to the other with the flick of a finger. All my shortcuts are generally either inbox filters, composing emails, texts or instant messages to common contacts, or speed dialling colleagues. There's two types of speed dial: hotkeys for colleagues and all touch speed dials for clients. The all touch speed dial is a lot slower but harder to pocket dial. The universal inbox is unrivalled by ios and android also. Not to mention customizable quick settings

I defend it because I'm Canadian and like to support Canadian business. I was supporting the Z10 long before I ever bought one. I've been waiting for it to come out for some time, and now that I have it, wouldn't trade it for anything. It's a great phone. Better than anything I've had before, and it does everything I want it to do. What more could I ask for? Most of you guys were saying RIM wouldn't survive past it's initial launch of the Z10. I'd say it's done more than survive!

I wish BlackBerry all the best, it would be nice to have a strong competitor. I'm an Android user myself, and I would like to see how BB10 and other platforms match the functionality of Android as it relates to context menus. For example, in Android, if I go into the music player, and go to the song listing, press the 'menu' hardware button, I get a context menu that allows me to search, delete (mass or individual), change app settings, add songs to a playlist (cont'd)

Good question. It does of course. I hear that it can also use symbols aside from the standard alphanumeric input. Altough I doubt most people would put a really difficult password. No pattern swipe or anything though like Android. But that is not always safe from prying eyes. If it is stolen, the thief can only input the wrong password 10x before the device completely wipes itself clean. So if you backup your stuff you can transfer it to the replacement and they don't get your info.

Whether or not BB's swiping is better than WP is relative and opinion based and swiping does the job perfect when I've used Windows Phone 8. I never experienced lag while swiping in WP8, and come to think of it I haven't experienced lag in WP8 not only in swiping but in the OS as a whole. I also never experienced lag in BB's previous releases back when it didn't have as much swipes as it does now. I miss the old Blackberry :(.

Most smartphone cameras leave some to be desired. While they come off as a must-have feature, their sole purpose is to take quick, last-minute pictures on the fly. contacts, e-mail, etc. I've played around with apple, and in that short time, I did not get the impression apple has that functionality, I have a Windows 8 laptop, which is was less functional in that sense than my phone, so I'm curious about BB10. Simple gestures are limited, and I find a few buttons really free up a lot of screen realestate and/or increase the functionality of the device. Android buttons each have three functions via 'one press', 'double press' and 'press and hold'.

you forgot to mention the use of advanced phrase in the BB's search. you type "email John" and you're one tap away of emailing him :)

BlackBerry 10 looks pretty good. So far the UO looks very fluid and pleasing to the eye... All they need is more apps and they are good to go

I think BlackBerry 10 shows a lot of promise. Probably not on this device, but the one with the keyboard that actually looks like a BlackBerry, it will come back in the game.

well no, not quite. active frames and live tiles arent the same. or a widget for that matter. on bb10 when you minimize out of an application *not close* and are on the homescreen again, you are presented with an active frame the active frame is the app in a minimized form, still running, showing specific information as what the developer set it to show when minimized. whereas live tiles are not open apps, but different processes or an app showing information on the homescreen, but

I wouldn't say so far beyond, but it sure impressive what they have done with this new device and BB10! The hope has risen for Blackberry!

It does do all of that , but it doesn't give you the customization of how or which way you want to get the job done ... iPhones are all with same basic interface , Androids are unique in every hand ...

Surely that's also because the OS and devices are brand new and very low market share so nobody's out there to put in the same amount of effort to crack it.

Apps in BB will be a big issue of course. Developers find developing and supporting more than two platforms too expensive and uses too much time. Yes they can port android apps but those are Android apps- it is meant to be used on Android, the UI and navigation too is based on Android. Unless BB will regain their past marketshare, developers will continue to ignore them.

I guess one of the other difference between BB10 vs Android is that Android can run on Battery while BB10 needs to be always plugged into power

Good video! I just wanted to note that I run applications after searching for them by name on BB10 all the time. It's not clear why you couldn't run an application like Foursquare from search on the Z10 in the video, but *typically* you can and works well.

Im actually getting BB10. Alot of the points you make are valid but there are other factors for getting this phone. Its UI is suttle yet intuitive. Its not cluttered like android and doesnt have all the WP info on infinite scrolling screen which could be tedious. Its Notification hub to me is one of the best and gestures make this phone truely unique. I will keep my Lumia WP for entertainment but BB10 will be my daily driver hands down.

is not currently open. sorta like a weather app for example itll show your tempurature, but when you go to touch it the weather app has to load up. so they are actually very different in that way and also it goes down to the root of the os in which qnx is an rtos and can actually multitask in realtime.

If blackberry app world has the main apps everyone use on a daily basis I wouldn't mind buying it. The security on blackberry's is unmatchable . The design look pretty darn good and updated. Micro SD slot & removable battery. For those migrating from iPhones like myself and looking for something other than Android...this is it. Z10

One of the reasons I waited for BB 10 was the fact that its a business tool first, and a toy second, AND the fact that it synced perfectly with outlook on 2 different computers. I found out today that this phone cannot even sync with outlook via USB anymore! I am totally disappointed and heading back to the Android store to see if that phone can perform this simple task. I do not want my information syncing via "outlook.com" as i relish the last bits of privacy i may have left. disappointed.

its interesting that it takes more steps to send an email on BB10 (supposed to be a business phone) than on android or iPhone.

When people judge blackberry as being crap it gets me. Don't buy a blackberry with hopes of have lots of fun, get an android if you want that. Every phones has it's strong points. Blackberry was always a company to specialize in being a phone for business people or people on the go. So if you're a person like me that focuses on getting tones of email and calls and don't have the need for lots of apps and games get the blackberry. If not get an android or windows device.

I wish BlackBerry reacted a little sooner for the iPhone movement. They seemed to have quite a lot of interesting ideas for their os.

Correction to what you said at 05:04 BlackBerry does search app names in the universal search you were searching from the hub or within an email / social media account. :P
