Those things are nice but sometimes I like using a hedge trimmer to cut saplings and briar thickets. With the hedge trimmer you can go in a sweeping motion and just fly through it with a much wider cutting path. The downside to the hedge trimmer is after awhile, it can start hurting your back. On steep hills, mountain sides, the hedge trimmer works so well. I like the bladed weed eater as well.

Have you compared this method to a walk-behind brush cutter like the Billy Goat? I picked up a used Ferris brush cutter for my property and now plan to sell it for a setup like yours, mainly because my land is mostly hilly and with granite boulders everywhere -- turns out the walk-behind is tough or impossible to navigate in most of the places I want to use it. But for clearing out flat land or a yard like this, I'm genuinely curious which would be more effective/efficient. Any thoughts?
@benjocalrision6 ай бұрын
I've done jobs just like this and bigger years ago in the UK. Used what we call a flail mower alongside a Stihl brush cutter. I would generally use the brush cutter as little as possible, just to locate problem areas or when the stuff gets over chest height. Rest of the time I found the mower is the best tool for the job.

Good job for the brambles but there will be crown roots ready to sprout about 6 to 12 inches underground that need to be cleared as well. A site that big will need a backhoe, and then the landscape fabric/cardboard and mulch layers on top. In three years the crown roots should finally be dead and you can grow things in the yard. Good luck!
