Carrying a BlackBerry in 2015 is an invitation to be interrupted. You’re bound to be asked by some well-meaning friend or nosey stranger “is that a BlackBerry? Do people still use those?” And while the answer to that question is an unqualified yes, the more interesting question is “what’s that like?” I’m Michael Fisher with Pocketnow, and I spent a few weeks finding out. @Akshat Bhatnagar Haha, Why not bro, I used Blackberry 9360 for about 3 years and then I switched to Iphone and I found my Blackberry phone lying in my house a few days back and trust me I went into my Nostalgia mode because nowadys we all are so connected with our phones that we know what it feels like to see a phone like Blackberry these days, It feels like diamond in our hands, And My phone was all damaged so I'm planning to get it repaired from a local mobile shop, And I'll use that mobile just for calling and just for some normal usage like saving my contacts and all.

Do I. I still use mine as my daily driver. Alot of the apps like facebook Twitter and youtube dont work, but the web version does. But you can create a shortcut to the site, it shows up like an app. It does drain the battery a bit faster but I get a full day and dont charge my phone until the next morning. I love it.

@J C you don't have to live in the BlackBerry Era...you can still get a BlackBerry passport or classic and be a minimalist. I mean less phone usage and useless social media Apps like Facebook and Twitter where toxic people reside. Snapchat and tic toc are even worse. People stay aloof and depressed trying to compete with the "so called" internet celebrities of Instagram. Youngsters are getting obsessed with all that nudity and getting attached to people Online who don't mean anything to us or we dont even know on a personal level.

He is good but MKBHD is the best...I give u one example: CES 2015 almost all stupid reviewer reviewing everything but see MKBHD reviewed only a few things including first to review Car tech(check all channel & he drove the car? North American buyers not interested (most) about those Meizu or other stupid phone. Review the perfect tech and get subscribed. + zorker product review is not hobby anymore. As most reviews get paid or more money(may be for Meizu) we subscribe to get value for our time.

Faiyaz Murshed I remember messing with the settings on my old windows 95 computer from millions of years ago. Me, being 9 years old, did not understand much at all about the computer, but I did learn how to put the connect the tower, monitor, and power by myself and make it work! I had no internet on it but it was fun to open up the various games and MSpaint and draw stuff on it! One time I remember I was messing around with resolution, and found that if I make it into XGA (768x1024)60Hz the screen got really clear and crisp, but has HORRIBLE flicker, and making it really low, I think it was SVGA (600x800)@75Hz, the screen got almost flicker free but everything was blown up and blurry and soft. I think there were a fer intermittent resolutions but I cant remember. I chose something in the middle, and XGA for MSpaint. I miss the glow and vivid candy colors of the CRTs too. (but NOT that godawful squealing and flickering!!!!)

Nothing beats a physical keyboard and with optical trackpad great mix. Shame iphone is all touch screen....the amount of times you miss the correct key is ridiculous. You dont seem to see a playstation controller touch screen do you? thats my point

Many errors. in this review. Opening an email is easy (press the email or press the track pad or press enter.) You can even search for the email and open it from the home screen. Heck users can even send emails or text messages from the home screen. Swiping right doesn't go to the hub. It goes back to whatever the user is currently working on in the hub. Clicking the hub icon saves any drafts and resets the hub. The reviewer missed hotkeys such as 'c' to compose, 'r' to reply 'f' to forward and 'l' to reply all. Doesn't make sense how he mentioned the reader mode and search trick then said 'it has no tricks.' ontop of that the tyles on the multitasking screen are great for multitasking. Trick is to open the few apps you need for work and leave them open. Every time you want to switch apps swipe up and press the app you want to switch to. Multitasking between apps messaging and phonecalls is easiest on BlackBerry 10. He mentioned something about marking items as read/unread as tricky. Thats not true either. Just click the gap that mentions the date and choose mark prior read or unread. The guy missed hot key speed dial and hub shortcuts also. Missinformative

Forgot to call him out on sideloading also. Users don't need to sideload android apps. Open settings, choose app management, select allow apps from other sources, then Just do a google search for the android app you want and write .Apk on the end of the search. If a user wants the entire google play store they need to sideload that.

These were sold in Portugal from 2015 I believe, costing almost €800.00. 😱 Sales were so disappointing that I ended up buying two in 2017, brand new, by €160.00 each! By that time Blackberry was already going down, and my two Q10s were loosing function after function. As time passed, I concluded that it would be too late to press the Classics into service, so they remain in their boxes, brand new, unused, to this day. Meanwhile I retired my Q10s last month - March 2023 - after nine years of reliable use. They were capable of so little that they weren't even worth their size and weight. Besides, I found that their batteries had swollen severely, something which does not happen often with other brands and greatly displeased me. I always liked Blackberry, but nowadays I also feel a large amount of contempt for the brand. What a miserable end. Nevertheless, I still use a 9220 or a 9320 everyday, as communicator phones only, i.e. calls and texting, period. They're precious when my ageing eyes don't see my Samsung display in bright sunlight, and are reliable and pleasing devices, small, light, and with a great battery. My 9360 and 9900 were retired too, poor battery performance in both and too much weight and size for the capability provided in the 9900. My 9700 was also retired long ago, but because it is a work of art; by far the better manufactured and finished phone I ever had, I didn't want to lose it, drop it or put a scratch on it. It's Blackberry at its very best, and its battery is excellent.

I work in finance and I use the BB for work and I like it. I think people are trying to compare it to an android or iphone and thats not what its intended for. Granted you can check FB, twitter, etc, like the other phones, but the goal is productivity and business enterprise services.

Love my Blackberry! i call it my 'just smart enough' phone. Like you mentioned the old saying, Its not a toy! And thats the best part. There isnt time in the day to fool around with a game or another app to share pictures. I'd rather look out the window between emails and text messages! ;)

HAVE TO ADMIT this is a great phone for work! I can compare a black berry to a Chromebook. Chromebooks are for research and getting essays done or simply WORK. Against those high end entertainment laptops with a touchscreen and high resolution screen topped off with a high price tag. Then there's the black berry, a nice phone that reminds you that there is work to be done with a classic keyboard and a basic but not BASIC if you know what I mean, software. Against once again, high end and expensive touchscreen smart phones for pocket sized entertainment instead of pocket sized WORK. If I have to have a separate cell phone for jobs and work the blackberry is my number 1 go to phone. Nothing else gets the job done better when it comes to staying on task and getting things done. Hats off to the slowly returning black berry.

Now try everything on a Blackberry Passport, with modern specs. Please do it. You will find BB 10 OS is very nice. This is a device aimed at bringing in the old Blackberry users from BB 7 into BB 10, that was its only purpose. The Passport is the device for the present users. Still a great review. And you are honest. But the Passport will impress you better, but I guarantee it wont change your mind about the OS. Some things just can be undone. If you don't like the interface, no matter how good it is, nothing will change your mind.

Those excuses of " Its too big", is the weakest, histrionic argument there is. It fits In a pocket just fine. If it cant, maybe you should reexamine your fashion, because it would probably mean you follow instead of lead the pack. Just for comparison to real world devices.... It is exactly the same height and thickness of a Nokia Lumia 920. It is just 8mm wider than the Nokia Lumia 1520. (Yes, I do use Windows Phones as my daily devices.) Basically... If you want to blend in and just be basic, bland, and part of the same superficial groupings of society.... Them by all means, continue living your safe, boring lives. But if you desire to get things done, a device for work, for in-between downtime, and make a statement that you care about what you do, instead of just "fitting -in", then try a Blackberry Passport. But whatever, most of society is a dead husk of trivial drone bees circling their smartphones in patterns reminiscent of insects at a bug zapper. Most absorbing large volumes of media, getting nothing productively done with their lives, only watching what could of been, watching somebody else getting something done. Its honestly pathetic.

having owned a Blackberry Z10 for over a year now, I disagree with some of the things being said. I have had apps "Force Close" on my just a couple times. NetFlix & HBOGo are Android apps and work perfectly fine for me. I don't notice hardly any lag or slowdown at all. I also have a handful of Android devices (including an S4 Mini which is pretty powerful) and I've not noticed much more speed difference in loading times of apps. I've never even seen that "Not responding" screen on Android apps that was shown on this video on the Blackberry 10 OS. I've never had a native Blackberry 10 app crash on me either. I don't have problems with notifications from FaceBook coming in later than they should unless I use a version of FaceBook thats in the Beta Zone, but then its kind of expected to have bugs because the software is in Beta.....my overall experience with Blackberry 10 has been positive and I never find myself wishing I had an iPhone or Android because lack of software or features......Blackberry 10 has been great for me and my uses.

my classic will be here soon, and i can't wait. I'm switching over from a note 4, and I'm so over android and i will never touch a Ipaytoomuchforsomething that comes outevery9months aka (iphone) I had BB before those phones became popular and I'm glad I'm going back. I bought my first BB couple years ago. I always dreamed of it in the times, when I couldn't afford it. But one day, I bought my very first Curve 9360. Since then, I've tried various Android phone but man....I couldn't replace BB just like that. Getting Classic in few days and I can't wait. BB is just love.

I owned blackberry z10, i would highly recommend blackberry. Blackberry os has convenience in mind. Although I'm an avid nexus/android fan, blackberry is my 2nd choice. Thinking of buying blackberry as my next phone again. :)

Find a review on the Passport elsewhere. It's a great product. They actually feel strongly about the product because it sold well beyond their expectations so they had to reserve devices for users no reviewers.

CaptainDave Easy to exceed expectations when the ones you set are very low to begin with. You're only as good as your forecast. Was important to not overset expectations. BTW, don't get me wrong, I used the PP for a few months. Enjoyed it. Never fully committed to the unique square shape. I did not enjoy the 'handling'.

I don't have any of the problems he had. I love my classic. And I have Google play on my device as well. I don't miss android or IOS. Hope blackberry keep up with the os cuz it's awesome. And using Google play til we get native apps are ok with me cuz I'm not missing anything. I'm Glad to be back on BlackBerry ever since I left when I had my first BlackBerry the 9700

God Exists I actually agree with the username, believe me I do, it's just really bold. Also I like Apple and Blackberry's approach to things. You have windows phone and android which you don't have to buy from the original manufacturer and can be bought from who ever while blackberry and apple you have to get it from only 1 manufacturer. Excellent review as always from Pocketnow. I have a Z30, which adds beefier specs and a larger screen to the mix, and largely solves the Android speed issues which were mentioned. Wish they'd launch a "modern" Classic with Passport-level specs and I'd be all over it. Can't beat the real keyboard!

BlackBerry doesn't need to be an Android phone. It's actually a secured Android phone in a nutshell. Besides BlackBerry Classic is mainly marketed to the legacy BlackBerry users. I'm an Android user and I gave BlackBerry Passport a couple of weeks. It builds on to you. To be honest I was also bored of same old iOS vs Android and wanted to try something new. It's not that bad. Just try it out and you'll know what it really is. You don't need such reviews to give you an opinion.

Camera software could have been better, I carry a BB Passport and it's somewhat annoying that autofocus is slow and its speed gets worse according to the environmental conditions. Besides that, I can say that with Classic and Passport you'll be at least 80% satisfied with it if it's something you do work with.

@pocketnow dont forget about triage in the hub. makes deleting, marking read, filing MUCH faster for multiple messages. also pinching on the hub will filter out read messages and only show unread.. also of course it has mark all prior read if you long press on the date.

This by fast is the best review for BlackBerry classic I've seen. I like this phone but specifications is just similar to Q10 and price isn't reasonable. Here in Philippines it cost PHP 20,990 equavalent to $476 USD that's why less and less people gets interested with Blackberry brand because of pricing.
