I ran screaming away from the love of my life due to addiction. I could see that staying together would end up with one, the other, or both of us ending up in jail, or even DEAD. I couldn't fix him, and I loved him far too much to stay and be a part of that. It wasn't that I feared death personally. I wasn't willing to enable his destruction.

Most addicts were/are good people that are just in way over their heads. Unfortunately that need for a chemical brings out the worst in people. I'm a recovering addict myself but I tried to maintain my morals when I was in active addiction. I wouldn't rob or steal from others just to get my fix. If I couldn't get it I just couldn't get it but there aren't many that can say that.

Hey Lamont, It’s Chrystal- Sherries sister 🥹 I want to thank you for making this, it’s easy for us to forget the older days with her and how she was. Her voice - raspy 😆 it was so harsh. You are correct, Jose, Melissa and Riley are her kids names and Jose is in the military- he lives in Texas on base now with a baby of his own 🥰Riley is her spitting image, sassy, raspy voice and all. Melissa is 💯 her mothers child. So many similar traits and she looks so much like her. They are all great kids 😍I can confirm, she didn’t commit suicide. It was ruled undetermined/suspicious. But it seems more as a very unfortunate accident. Unfortunately though, we will never really know the full truth. I love the memories you shared about her, and for my mom. Yes, her disease was Huntingtons disease. She was in the end stages then. I know that we don’t want to believe that certain things happen when and how they did. But sadly, it is true. She was a lost soul and one of the best people I’ve ever known. 12/5/17, the worst day of our lives. She always spoke so highly of you. I want to share with you that she spoke often about going to meet up with you out of state and that you guys were going to travel, she had this whole plan. Sadly though, I didn’t believe her. I thought it was another one of her mental heath things where she beloved things that didn’t actually happen, because that did happened a lot. The last time I remember her saying anything about that was a couple months before she passed. Thank you so much for visiting her and for sharing how wonderful of a person she was. The last few months of her life I started recording our conversations, with the hope of getting some doctor to agree that she needed help and get her to see that her mind was slipping away. We took small pieces of a conversation and made a video for her funeral. It was important for me to make sure her kids never forgot her voice or her laugh. Your welcome to go find it. I think it’s called Sherry Mitchell memorial video or something like that. May bring you a little happiness to hear her voice. Anyway, I just want to make sure you knew how special you were to her and how much she loved you. You were her favorite best friend.

@T4Christ777, I found an old Go Fund Me, started by one of Sherry’s sisters,for Sherry’s burial expenses. Anyway, it was noted that Sherry had Huntington’s, and since it is an inherited disease, I believe that you’re correct about her mom having it. Such a sad story. May they both rest in peace.

My best and dearest friend in the world, Judy Freeman, passed away in 2013 from cancer. We were close friends from the time we were 15 years old and I'm now 65. Lamont when a hummingbird comes around you, that means somebody who has passed to another side, is visiting you. That was her. Thabk you for sharing that story with us. And I think when she held you and you couldn’t explain what you felt, it was that you knew it was somebody who truly cared how you felt. Yep. I used to have 2 hummingbirds come around daily. They would get so close to my face we were like nose to nose. I was terrified to move and they just hovered then flew away..they were my grandparents. The day I had a panic attack outside they came out of nowhere..thank you for that confirmation.

That was awesome. I too had a friend like that who died in 2007. Looking back, she was the only person who understood me. I moved away and was not around when she passed. I visited her grave about a year later but had no idea where she was buried in a nearby town. When I got out of my car, I walked about 10 steps and looked down. There was her name on a marker. It was like I was led there.

I had a good friend who was accidentally struck and killed by a car two weeks ago. He had been walking in the dense fog just before dawn along what he had apparently thought was the freeway shoulder only to have actually wandered out into the fast lane. He was only 30 years old. He tried to get and stay sober for many years but his family finally had to walk away after he had checked himself out of rehab for the final time just before his death. On his good days he was a wonderful person and a very generous guy who was always ready with a quick joke or a hug when everyone was down.

I had 2 friends murdered in az. Was landmark case, caught the murderer 20+ yrs later in Florida. I still think about them & the way they died just tears me up. She was so young when she died. I had a friend that died at the same age of 36. I do sometimes feel guilty that she passed away and I'm still living. I know she is watching over you. RIP Sherry 🕊️

Her mother and Sherry were both young when passing. I was born in 1957 and have a daughter in 1982. Life is twists and turns. I had good close friends who I wouldn't speak to for months even years but we'd pick up where we left off. Those kinds of friends are rare. We don't just connect to anyone. Sherry was special. She offered you herself as herself. I've known you awhile Lamont. Probably an OG here. Seriously, at any time near Southeast Houston, coffee and good conversation. Be safe, and warm. ❤️

Lamont, thank you for sharing Sherry with us! I pray she is dancing with angels right now and your memory of her keeps her alive just the same. I am thinking you did see her when you thought you saw her.. that was her way of telling you goodbye. People visit us! After my mom died she came to me one night and it was insane! I remember it like it was yesterday and it was 24 yrs ago. Just know that you are very special to her too and you got to be saved by an angel no doubt! And she will be there to greet you some day! ❤

What a great story and a neat friend. Huntington’s disease is an autosomal dominant disease and half of her mother’s children will likely have it. The onset is often earlier with each generation. This makes one wonder if she was tested or had it and maybe this contributed to her deterioration. Thanks so much for sharing. I love your content.

From listening to you describe Sherry and the relationship you both shared, I sensed that you loved her in a very special way. The way she left is so tragic. I know sharing this with us had to be difficult. Very sad for your loss and for her. 😢
