Brad's mom Elissa passed away in Las Vegas in 2018. She was about 85. I think she was remarried so that explains why she's not in the mausoleum. Brad's childhood home was sold and demolished in 2006 to expand a parking lot. Also the police dept paid $3500 in 2019 to Parabon for familial DNA testing. They have the killer's DNA and he could be found if a relative used a genealogical site.

One of my child’s friend always waited until nightfall to go home. Even though, that child lived right around the corner basically next street over. I never let that child go home on their own. I would put their bike in my trunk and deliver that child in person to their parents. I also never let my child walk home by themselves. I always picked them up. I agree but you have to understand that kind of sick shit wasn't as common back then as it is today or at least it wasn't really known about if it did occur. I'm a 1980s kid and it was safe to walk pretty much everywhere back then because we didn't have sick people like we have today or they were better at hiding what they were in those days. I still live in pretty much the same area I grew up in but it has definitely changed for the worst and if I had kids I'd be hesitant to let them run around unsupervised today even in the same neighborhood I'm from even though it was safe when I was a child.

@@joshuahull9982 Nah, it was just as bad, there just wasn't internet for everything to be broadcasted or for internet crimes. Everyone was WAY to trusting in the 60's/70's/and even the 80's. I mean a lot of unsolved MASS murders were made before the 1990's. No way it was safer. It was way too easy to do harm, kidnap, and even murder someone because technology wasn't good back then.

@lesliemashmann79 2 жыл бұрын
@@joshuahull9982 Where I was raised in the late 50's 60's, if you lived a mile or less from the school, you had to walk - no buses. We thought nothing of riding our bikes or walking a couple of miles to a friends house - 3 miles would be a little much. However, one thing was a given - anybody who got after a kid would get a visit from the the men, and would be lucky is there was enough left of them to walk out of town. If there was an older teenage boy who was inappropriate with the girls - he would find himself taken to the local army recruiter. Very, very rarely happened, but it did happen.. Members of a town were very protective of each others children - your Mom knew what you had done before you even got home.!

On the corner, of McDowell and 44th street, there was a Circle K. In the parking lot facing McDowel Rd, 4 Men in a reg. CAR, The 1 guy in the back seat " Yelled at me;" Hey little girl, Do you want some candy". I froze, I knew NOT to go near strangers or go next to them, So I ran around the corner where my girlfriends were walking the long way home, they were next door neighbors, and told her about it. The cops came, but I was just to young, to tell them, what I just told you. So, I could have been a kidnapping case. Glad I wasn't..66yrs old today.. I think my Guardian Angel helped me get away.

The saddest part of story is that the friend and their family had felt way too much guilt for what happened to Brad. The Templemans had different ways of coping with the situation. “My mom just had tremendous guilt, because she feels personally responsible, because she…wasn’t there to drive him home…I always told her, ‘Mom, it wasn’t your fault, you didn’t know. He left on his own, and you didn’t know he was going,’” Don said. “My dad never ever talked about it. My dad took me to the police station when they showed me the evidence…he was there in the room, and he didn’t say a word the whole time I was being interviewed. Then we drove home, and he didn’t say a word all the way home. And he and I never talked about it… [my mom] would ask me every so often if I had ever heard anything, and I would tell her no. And she’d just say I just wish we could turn the clock back…But I don’t remember my dad and I ever talking about it at all.” He said his dad was typically very open about everything, but this was too difficult. “He took it really hard”

I think it was just a different time. The world has changed a lot. I’m 37 and I remember when I was in kindergarten and first grade, I would walk home with friends for lunch break and walk back to school. I used to walk home about 1.5 miles every day from school at the age of 11 or 12 and take city buses. I can’t imagine letting my kids do any of that.

Even if it was 1972 I think it was very odd to allow a kid to walk home that late at night for 3 miles. Low crime or not, 1972 or not someone could've driven him or allowed him to spend the night. We idealize the past as if these types of things rarely happen. I was born in 1973 a year after this happened.

My parents raised 11 children. Six boys and five girls. None of us were allowed to walk the streets. When we learned how to drive a car, two of us had to go to the store together. I'm not saying something could not have happened to us still, but children are given too much freedom nowadays!!!!!! I see children in the streets all of the time, day and night. Somethings are beyond a parent's control, but young children in the streets, especially at very young ages is the parent's fault. I hate it when this happens to children because I have much love for sweet innocent children. So sad 😞 😥

The murderer is thought to be *Joseph Norman Hill,* a 32 year old truckman who lived in Shadyside Drive in the Boardman area in 1972, who died in 2019 in California. There was a 98.2% probability of a DNA match. He had a conviction in 1986 in Los Angeles for disorderly conduct and solicitation for a rude act. Possibly related to two other unsolved murders of Boardman boys - Thomas Baird, 15, in 1970 and David Evans, 13, in 1975. His wife died in 1993. RIP Brad Lee Bellino. 🙏🏻
