I am a resident of Lanett, Alabama. We consider Nadine's grave as a local monument in our community. No matter what, No one would ever think of doing anything to vandalize or disrespect her resting place. It serves as a reminder that we all experience tragedy at some time or another. All the citizens of community understand that people grieve differently so her parents took comfort in knowing that they granted her wish even though she died. It is wonderful that so many are touched by the story behind her beautiful dollhouse. The Bible book Ecclesiastes 7:1-4 reveals how important it is to meditate on life by observing the distress afflicted on those who have lost a loved one in death. How proud we are here in Lanett, Alabama to be able to share something meaningful to others.

carol Garber, Same for my ancestors from Catasauqua, PA. The 2 oldest children 4 and 6, died of diphtheria leaving my paternal grandmother to be the oldest. That kind of communicable illness could sweep through a family with small children. It's very sad. The bright point to children dying is that the Bible says, they immediately go to be with Jesus. Amen.

The “me want it now” made this feel so real. This girl had a such a loving family that her only worries were having to wait for a beautiful doll house. Her Illness was not on the front of her mind because the excitement of a big new toy overshadowed the fact that she was dying. Yes it’s sad she never got to play in it, but her fathers love and determination to make such an amazing toy was sure to have mentally helped her through the dying process. She was filled with excitement and wonder until the very end because of him.

As a child, a classmate of mine died, and his parents who were quite wealthy doctors erected a beautiful white marble and stained glass shrine like a chapel over his grave. As the years went by, the grave was vandalized so often by local teenagers busting the glass and breaking down the door, that his parents ended up exhuming his body and moving his marble chapel to Brazil, where the family was originally from. I’m amazed this little house is in such great shape.

When I was four, we lived next to a girl who was six. She saw a beautiful white dress in the store (her mother told my mother this story), but her mother told her they didn't have the money right then to buy it. she told her they'd have to "wait 'til Daddy gets his paycheck", and they'd buy it for her. A few days after that , she was scheduled to have her tonsils removed. Apparently, the anesthesiologist didn't give her enough gas , and she woke up in the middle of the operation. He then gave her more - which was TOO much, and she died. She was buried in that dress she had wanted.

Nathaniel Harris. Totally agree. My 5 year old baby girl is EVERYTHING TO ME! Im so sorry some of you have or had shitty dads......... But tht DOES NOT MEAN tht all dads are Tht way.....not at all. My bond with my baby girl is indescribable, its unlike ANYTHING IVE EVER FELT! The things i would do to protect and keep her safe are literally limitless. This video made me tear up pretty damn heavy, I cant begin to imagine the pain that man felt as he finished this for her. This is soooooo sad and yet soooooooo sweet all at the same time.

@TriRaven thank you very much. I do the best i know how to be everything a daughter could want for my baby. I always wanted a little boy is what i always said , but i wouldnt change her for anything in this world or the next, it literally changed everything within me the moment i held her for the first time... I cant possibly describe in words that feeling. Overwhelming.

Wow. This is perhaps the most touching video I have ever seen. I could feel your grief as you were narrating the video. Such love from her father; every detail is perfection. Chapeau to the cemetery/community which has cared for the doll house so beautifully for many decades.

Tammy Weaver I understand your pain, Tammy, I lost my beloved son, in 2018, he was 44. 😢 I know what you mean about calling your adult children “baby” even though they’re adults, us as mothers will always see them as our babies...at least I do. My life has forever changed with this tremendous and painful loss, I still cry for him everyday. 😢😢🥺🥺 I’m so sorry for your loss. 🥺 May God continue giving you comfort. 🙏🏼

My father had diphtheria as an infant at just about the same time as Nadine. He survived but his hearing was damaged for the rest of his life. Horrible disease. As well as Nadine, I grieve for her parents who had to deal with this at the ages of 21 and 23. Almost children themselves.

Oh my word...my grandmother's family is from Chambers County and I remember being taken there as a small child. I must have been about 5 or 6. I'm 55 now. I remember being told that I couldn't play with the toys. I was so entranced by that little house. I completely forgot about this. Thank you for reminding me of that memory and of being there with my grandmother to visit.

@JoJo Mo from what i understand, the city or a local church adopted it and takes care of it. I know they change the shingles on the roof and rotate the toys inside. They also put up Christmas decorations every year. There's a small stuffed Easter bunny in storage somewhere that I took to her earlier this year.
