Blackbox now has Multi-Sample Recording!

You won't believe what happened once I pressed the record button!!! 😜 With firmware v1.6, 1010Music added multi-sampling support to the Blackbox, but instead of just loading multi-sampled instruments, they've also implemented multi-sample recording, for both MIDI and CV/Gate instruments.

By any chance, do you know if and how it would also be possible to record and trigger multi-sampled individual drums (instead of notes) onto the 16 pads (view) so as to create and play with multi-velocity, multilayered drums (for more realistic, multi-sampled drums or to record velocity modulated electronic ones)… like having a 16 multi-velocity, multilayered snares, hi-hats, base drum or toms on each of the pads (similar to the 4 multilayered drums one can have on an MPC)? I hope this long question makes sense and is clear enough for you, if not let me know! All the best,

Hi.. I just got a Black Box and a Squarp Pyramid, along with a Keystep 37. My studio is a hybrid guitar/synth rig and has several synths, but I’d like to study the Pyramid, Black Box and Keystep 37 in depth and on their own as a mini-rig separate from the big rig, in order to learn them in depth. My question is: can I sequence the Black Box using the Pyramid with the Keystep as a controller/secondary sequencer? Like is it possible, once loaded with sounds, to use the Black Box pads as individual synthesisers or sound modules, have the Pyramid assign a midi channel to each pad, and sequence the individual sounds as tracks? In actuality I don’t plan to use the Pyramid to sequence the Black Box because I want to use the onboard sequencer and basically have it compliment my Pyramid orchestration of synth with samples, but for learning to operate all my new gear I’d like the option for the Black Box to stand in as my studio, if possible. I sequence the Blackbox from the Pyramid, because it just runs circles around it in terms of capability and control. And yes you can have up to 16 MIDI channels worth of sounds in the Blackbox triggered from and external source like the pyramid.

does it do any automatic looping? If I were to want to loop these samples, would I have to go in and set loop points on each sample individually?

It auto detect beats for looped clips, but only if they are already loopable. the slicer auto detects transients, but for the loopable portion of say a string sample you have to set it manually. It does read it from the metadata so if you have files with loop points already set it recognizes that

Yes, absolutely. You can import a multi-sample set and export one that you’ve recorded locally.

The manual says you must save every wav with his root note... not so easy and speed to do... have you tricks for evitate this?
