There are actually bits of software out there that do the Automated Multisample thing, (Sample Robot for instance). I just figured I post something that was free and quite easy to create and reuse.......thanks for watching and commenting!

Hope you can make use of this idea......as I've been told, there are quite a few other software editors which will help with this. There are also things like Sample Robot that you can purchase, that allow for custom loops of samples, etc., but I wanted to showcase the cheap, quick solution here.....

Hey Reg, thanks for watching. I spend quite a bit of time creating sounds in my Virus and other gear, then needing to get a version of them into my Deluge, for my 'ambient' improv project, so I had to come up with a quick solution. (I know there is already software out there that does this sort of thing, but I wanted to offer people a quick, free option).....

I owned a bunch of older samplers, from an Emulator EII, to many others......back when everything was stored on floppy disc, and the sounds were only mono........Had a massive sample library that I used to sell (by the disc) when I was touring with rock bands.....yup, things have really changed......

This was super helpful, thank you. You’ve got me wondering what you did with the wood cheeks on your Deluge. I kinda like the look of it without them. Curious about how you closed up the sides without them on.

Hey dude. First off, love the hair. Second, I love the vids. Third - Im looking all over the manual and across several search engines for how to turn on a "latch" or "hold" mode to latch a note while the arp is on, for example. Any idea?
@willswitchcraft
@willswitchcraft 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for stopping by Heli RIdes....glad you're enjoying things here.......No idea about that latch issue. I generally don't use the Deluge for that, however if you record a track, the notes will sustain and be operated by the Arpeggiator. Try reaching out to the good folks at Synthstrom, they've been pretty helpful with me...... Glad you like the hair......the colour was my wife's idea, just so I don't get mistaken for an old granny in the grocery store (no, ......seriously).....all the best,........

Well it's nice but the point of the Deluge for me is to NOT have to use a DAW. Will give this a shot if the onboard multisampling is too laborious though 👍
@willswitchcraft
@willswitchcraft Жыл бұрын
Yes, I'm with you....when I use the Deluge, I'm happy to work without any computer - however (as you may see from my dozens of 'ambient' music video uploads, sometimes you have to do some homework/prep to get all the sounds you'll need onboard, before you start to record or program on the Deluge....

So the velocity of your keyboard tells the Deluge how loud it plays the one sample laid down to that key? An even better technology on getting an expressive instrument is Round Robin. I guess it is Multisampling in velocity in Multisampling itself. Can you do that in the Deluge as well?
@willswitchcraft
@willswitchcraft 2 жыл бұрын
Hey, there's a fly on my.........Yes, the velocity of the incoming MIDI determines the volume. (there are actually some issues with the default MIDI velocity commands, but Synthstrom has fixed that in the upcoming firmware version I'm told). Round Robin is more about variation and nuance, not velocity, but it's a valid point. The Deluge does NOT support Velocity Xfades, or Velocity switching, or even sample looping (at this time).......The best way to do multisampling, is to using Automated Software, like Sample Robot, but I'm doing this demo, just to provide a free option......
@wellurban
@wellurban 2 жыл бұрын
You can do velocity crossfades with a bit of work. A synth voice has two oscs, each of which can be a sample, and each can have its volume dependent on velocity. Set one to have a positive dependence (shift-OSC 1 level, then shift-Velocity, then scroll to a high number), and the other to negative dependency (same procedure, but with OSC 2 and scrolling left into negative numbers. You could also do this to velocity crossfade between basic oscillator types, or wavetables (with firmware 4.0), or even the internal input.
