Hi Joe, what you do think about put on the rear part of my bike? I have one screw in each side. I don't know how stable could be. Thanks

Don’t suppose you can shorten the straps for smaller water bottles?
@socaljoe3 жыл бұрын
Seems like the straps would work but I think the issue would be securing a small bottle in the cradle which looks to be made for larger circumference items

I would consider using small panniers...
@socaljoe2 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. Much prefer panniers on “tours” and these when “bikepacking”, depending on conditions

I'm kind of old fashion. My motto has always been,. to use not the newest idea, but rather the most appropriate tool for the job. Which means i sometimes have to change out my touring packs to meet the season,, weather conditions, terrain, trip objectives. number of people on the tour. For this year I switched out the water bottle cage on the diagonal tube for a cargo cage to carry a one or two liter Nalgene water bottle and moved the squirt bottle to a handle bar cage because of extreme heat.. My front wheel choices I prefer are low profile small or medium saddle bag that go over the the top of the front rack. I use the front paniers to carry fast needed emergency equipment, I can grab in a second, like my rain coat, or wind jacket or emergency food to prevent Bonking. They are easy to remove quickly when setting up camp and don't over load the steering. I still prefer rear panniers attached to the rear rack saddle bag style. I can load my gear in the rear packs and a few pieces in a dry bag(s) on top of the real rack. But it all comes down to individual individual need for the trip. No right or wrong way, Just what works for you as well as not getting locked into a right or wrong way.

Yup, totally agree. When I road the erie canal last year i road with this setup but found that panniers would have been a better choice since I tend to bring more stuff on a tour (as opposed to bike packing). Besides it takes SOO much longer to pack a dry bag/sack as opposed to a pannier where you can toss everything in instead of hard packing into a sack/bag

Do you like the internal cable routing on the Jamis?
@socaljoe3 жыл бұрын
I haven't didn't have any issues. I think on this 2019 steel version it's only the hydraulic brake cables that are internal. Interestingly I now have a 2021 version and only the fork brake cable and the dropper seat are routed internal

Where did you get the adjustable fork brackets? Thanks

That particular one was an add on item when I ordered my custom made Rogue Panda half frame bag. I think it was $10. I seem to remember searching on eBay /Amazon for another one and getting some search results. Ideally I could use one that has one more hole to get my bottle a bit lower in my Frame. I thought Topeak makes one? I will have a search and see if I can find anything and post here

How have those Super Singularity bags been holding up for you?
@socaljoe3 жыл бұрын
So far so good, though I’ve only done 2 trips with them and they were dry / rainless tours. My biggest concern is how water proof they are. The black carry handles are starting to detach. One is almost completely off on one side and the other is starting to pull out of the stitching. You also might want to be aware of not over stuffing them to the point where the stitching separates. I’m hopefully doing a tour with them soon where I might see some rain and will let you know. They are definitely small compared to other bags and there claimed capacity

Silly bike packer. You just created a pannier with mounting rack.
@davidrowe87472 жыл бұрын
Lighter than a pannier rack, and cheaper and lighter dry bags than a pannier.
