Wow. I am impressed with this on so many levels. First, the way you executed that intro on the spot. How funny would it be if James, instead of intricately working that section out at various rehearsals and then (I imagine) recording it by himself at the studio, he just recorded all the parts on the spot, in front of the other members, waiting patiently with big smiles on their faces :D Secondly, the chunky sound and lack of vocals made it sound like a James/Lars-only rehearsal, but then you did include the lead guitars and bass. You even kept the bass at a decent level but (as those who deny that Lars cruelly turned the bass down on ...Justice to taunt Jason), it truly does blend in with the guitars and just creates an extra ch-chunk. This made me realize that Lars maybe isn't such a bastard after all, which was touching, as was the idea of them, back in the day, including EVERYONE at rehearsals and early recording sessions--which they didn't attempt until Load. As much as I love the first four records, imagine the results of such an inclusive process BACK when they had energy and speed and ambition. Finally, you masterfully kept the part after the solo that ALWAYS made me scratch my head--the part no one can agree on: is it Lars' mistake left in or a brilliantly worked out polyrhythmic trick? Either way you nailed it, and also, you reinforced my belief that it's the SECOND half of that pre-final-verse section that's "messed up," not the first half, which appears to follow the rest of the song.

Thanks! Always loved this intro. The looper on my Line 6 Helix is just perfect to pull it off. That part after the solo is definitely planned that way. No mistakes on any of this stuff. It was meticulously planned by those guys. Very hard to pull off for sure. I’ve been playing this song for 30 years though, I’d better have it by now! Our drummer Phillip is awesome. Without that…. impossible.

Lol! Our poor bass player is standing in the back corner and I tried to make the mix accurate therefore he is about as audible as Jason was. You can hear him on the dual guitar section right before the solo. Our drummer fucking kicks ass! We are using a much nicer Roland kit now. And we are identical twins just in case that wasn’t clear, I couldn’t tell if u were joking or not! I’ve been taking a lot of singing lessons (that’s me on the left) and will have something more complete pretty soon.
