I think I love the forward version more than the backwards....it's oozing with sorrow, while the backwards version is more angsty....if that makes any sense.

I think that was the intention of the intro, in reverse, since the forward version has a development and culmination from the beginning to the end ... and since this is the beginning of the album, the reverse version has no culmination and suggests a continuation.

I find more fluid feelings of darkness and solitude in the forward version. And in the reversed one I sense more a legendary feel of empowerment.

I feel like the reversed version was chosen because it's more strained. It sounds like the heroism of the forward version is being sucked out of the song (especially with the way the reversed picking sounds on the album). It fits with the "rising up against the man" vibe.

To me the original version sounds majestic. That's the best word I can think to describe it. I could envision a king looking out over his kingdom or entering somewhere to this music...... But when it's reversed it takes on a much darker element and I feel as though I'm being led to someplace dark like an underground place. Much more fitting of a song called Blackened. That's just my opinion though.

It’s definitely not as clear as @theonehorsemen ‘s version. That’s why I’m switching to audio interface via USB so I can DL lots of custom Metallica tones and play them in real-time through monitors😎🎸🤘

This sounds like the most correct way to play it. I’ve seen lots of other ways people play and layer it. If you listen to the record and then this, it’s virtually identical aka perfection. BTW how did you get that super accurate tone?! I’m guessing an audio interface plugged into a comp program and comes out of 2 speakers? Or do you have an old vacuum tube amp or Mesa Boogie heads? That tome is THE most impressive sounding Metallica tone I’ve heard, and it just so happens the Justice tone is perfection in my ears.

you need a bias fx 2 (there you can download similar sounds, configurations by other users by artist and album names), an audio interface (for example, focusrite scarlett), and a computer for sound recording and video editing.

scarlett 2i2, but it doesn't matter, any similar sound interface is enough. bias fx standard version. tone looked in the positive grid cloud, right in the plugin there is an opportunity to load presets collected by other users. I searched for Metallica ...And Justice For All, there are a lot of very similar tones. you need to install BIAS FX, and then everything will become clear)))

Songster has the best version of the tab. It’s divided into 3 leads and 1 rhythm (and bass). In fact, it’s the exact tab from The One Horsemen’s video. It’s the one I go off of too.
