I've owned 3 DeVille's and still drive my 1998 Cadillac DeVille Concours. I do all my own maintenance. You done a great job and you do not have to change out the water pump. The pulley's are a common problem on the Northstar 4.6 I will say I bought 1999 DeVille with 81.000 it was a 1 owner and the elderly gentleman passed away so I didn't know the complete history so I decided to change out the water pump myself. I bought all the gasket water pump and GM water pump removal tool. I will note that the temperature was 18 degrees cooler. I'm in the process of doing a complete tune up so I done my homework I'm replacing the spark plug tube seal's valve cover gaskets and front cam seal. Probably asking why the alternator sits very low on the bottom so oil and anything that leaks will cause the alternator to go bad. Spark plug tube seal's so no oil passes into the spark plug dwell holes resulting in no fauled out plugs. Valve cover gaskets no oil draining down on the alternator. I thought I was going to get off easy but if you want a job done right do it right the first time I can hear my father telling me that. Keep up the great work

Just curious did you ever put the bolt back in the cam pulley you pulled an replaced noticed in the video you had it running without the bolt. I mean physically the pulley won't run off due to the tightness an angle of the belt.
@blackericdenice3 жыл бұрын
I don't think I did and the belt is not what keeping the pulley on. It take a puller to remove that pulley. Why did GM put a nut on the end. The same reason why they put locktite on the caliper bolts. Someone sitting behind a computer thought it was a great idea.

A funny thing happen. The engine was pumping out water. I thought it was a blown head gasket. A shop said they replace the water and charge me $805. The pump blades are metal. I never heard of a bad metal water pump that was not leaking or did not have a bad bearing. I think they did something else and replace the water pump just to milk me out of money. It ran hot again a few months later. this time it was a plugged purge tube.
