The Sedins in their prime. Bobby Lu in his prime. Great team built around them. 1 win away from a Stanley Cup. Still proud of this version of the Vancouver Canucks, one of the best lineups in their history.

I come back to this because it was one of the best Canuck wins ever, that whole Cup run can't be forgotten so many great memories, same with 1982 and 1994 those were a great 2 months both those years.
@ethanparker7900

i'm sure and hell if chicago had won this game instead, this would've been one of the biggest meltdowns in history given you guys had a 3-0 lead originally and had the presidents trophy and the defending champion hawks barely made it in the playoffs and were 20 points behind the canucks in the standings for the 2010-2011 regular season. Imagine what would've happened to your canucks if they had lost this game. I easily could've seen people losing their jobs and players demanding trades and the team altogether getting ripped down to the studs and no second consecutive presidents trophy the next year as a result. Ofc i was never much of a canucks fan but I respect the hell out of them and to a degree am glad for those that are that they got to see them give the hawks a taste of their own medicine. Most hawk fans while they would never admit so out loud are prolly ok with it too deep down cause they would win 2 more cups in the next 4 years after. But seriously, due to the team coughing up that 3-0 lead I can only imagine how anxious some guys on the coaching staff were like Alain Vigneault and Rick Bowness and Mike Gillis were going into this day or during the game going into OT cause of their job securities possibly being on the line depending on how this game ended. @@clubhouseme

Makes me wanna cry listening to that crowd. This was PEAK Vancouver. I remember when I was 13 or 14 sitting in front of the TV in Hawaii during a family vacation and screaming my head off when Burrows scored. Seeing that replay gives me chills to this day. The day we landed in Maui the Captain came on the PA and announced that Vancouver had won game 3, making it 3-0 in the series. The entire plane erupted in cheers.

As a Blackhawks fan I can't help but feel happy for the Canucks as a result of this game. I can't imagine what it must be like to lose to a team two years in a row, than the year you finally have them looking like their down and out you let them back in the series giving up a 3-0 lead, then after shutting them down for almost 59 min., you give up a short handed goal to tie it, only to come out and win off a bad giveaway in OT. Must have been epic.

if anyone of Malhotra, Samuelsson, Hamhuis had been available to the Canucks for the duration of the Finals, they beat Boston... Canucks were to beat up from injuries going into the series with the Broons. It's amazing they won 3 games with all the injuries. The suspension to Rome was over the top. Never before seen in the playoffs, let alone the Finals.

Manny getting that eye injury changed the course of the season, without him guys like Hank and Kes now had to take so many extra faceoffs, and that undoubtedly affected them in the playoffs.
@rockabillytwang
@rockabillytwang 4 жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly, I always thought the Canucks were still ok after Malhotra's injury, but when Samuelsson got injured, I felt it screwed up the chemistry of each line after that. Then of course Hamhuis down and Kess playing injured - you could tell he didn't have the same speed in his skating. Plus to put Luo in net when he's never won in Boston....coach error I thought there, and yeh, the bad call on Rome...too bad for the Nucks - great run though...

@@OfficialChrisW yea I agree with your last sentiment the most. They got waaaaay too over confident. Chara gave an interview about how they had found out that Vancouver was actually practicing how they were gonna lift the cup and who they’d hand it off to, etc . Totally thought they had it won but didn’t . And finding that out super motivated Boston to go out in game 7 on Vancouver ice and dominating for the win. That’s why Vancouver lost. Hubris.

This sure was a hell of a series. I was only 8 years old at this time and as an 8 year old and a lifelong caps fan who had saw his team the presidents trophy runner up and top seed in the east blast the 8th seeded rangers in 5 games, I had never been so like fascinated with the intensity like here. with the canucks and hawks. The defending champs barely making the playoffs as the 8th seed/2nd wild card despite having like half of the same team from the cup win the year prior and clawing back from a 3-0 deficit on the verge of getting swept to force game 7 was quite impressive and game 7 going into overtime and the canucks ofc getting the presidents trophy and getting revenge on the hawks. I wonder what would've happened with the canucks if the hawks were to have won this game? People gonna lose their jobs like Mike Gillis, Rick Bowness, Alain Vigenault, etc and players demanding trades? And no second consecutive presidents trophy the next season? They sure did dodge a bullet in this game after coughing up that 3-0 lead narrowly avoiding what would've been one of the biggest letdowns in history if chicago had won this game instead of them. That recovery by chicago was uncanny so it is impossible to not give them credit for their effort. This OT goal when I look back on Burrows' career I think this was his biggest one and obviously one of the biggest goals of the 2010s decade altogether. I was never much of a canucks fan but I sure did respect the hell out of them like the twins two of my biggest idols growing up along with Kesler, Bieksa, Hamhuis, Lou, Burrows, Rypien (god bless him) and Raymond and ofc head coach Alain Vigenault. I remember watching this game live on TV this day and ofc it was strange to see the hawks get bounced early but I felt glad for the canuck fans after seeing their team get tortured by the hawks in round 2 the previous 2 years prior and finally getting some sort of vindication to it albeit just barely. All teams have all felt that at some point in our lives. The hawks would ofc win another cup 2 short years later and another 2 years after that so hawk fans don't have anything to complain about tbh looking back at this day.

The Blackhawks didn't lose this series in game 7. They lost it in game 3 when they couldn't hold onto two leads and in a tied 3rd period give up the go-ahead goal to Mikael Samuelsson, an old Detroit playoff nemesis from 2009. Props to Chicago for their comeback attempt from down 0-3, but down 2-1 is a different animal from 0-3. That Ben Smith game 6 OT goal could have been the series clincher and a reverse sweep instead.

Can you imagine if the Hawks won this series? That would have been an even more humiliating loss then when they lost to Boston at Game 7. It would be the third year in a row losing to Chicago in the playoffs, it would also mean they blew a 3-0 series lead, they also only had 1:56 minutes to win in Game 7 until Toews tied it, and the Hawks only made the playoffs that year on the last week of the season.

and the fact they needed the dallas stars to lose their season finale after they lost theirs in order for them to get in i mean you gotta feel for the stars given that they had a wide open chance to steal that last playoff spot away from the hawks but ofc didn't with that 5-3 loss that night. It certainly would've been interesting if the canucks had played the stars in round 1 over the hawks since they did so in 2007 but ofc getting the hawks who beat them in 6 games the previous 2 years prior in the second round showed their was unfinished business on the behalf of going up against them since they ofc beat dallas in 2007 and likely would've done so again in easier fashion here had they played them over the hawks

This was Vancouver's year and so many people were devastated by the outcome... If boston lost instead, I doubt there would've been as many people that'd be upset because it was all/most of Canada that were hoping for the Canucks to win, while it was probably just the bruins fans that wanted their team to win... Most americans probably didn't even know the final was going on...

This run would have been like the 2004 BoSox beating the Yankees (Blackhawks) in the ALCS - only to lose to the Cardinals (Bruins) in the World Series.

Im a canucks fan and I wanted some honest thoughts what would have happened if the Vancouver Canucks lost! Indeed we would be the 4th team to lose a 3-0 series lead. I know for a fact we wouldnt have rioted so dont bring that option out there! What would have been the franchise after losing the first round of the playoffs? Would we have won the cup the following year? If the canucks didnt make it this year to the stanley cup finals, then which team from the western conference would of made it to the stanley cup finals?

the team would've likely been blown up dude i mean winning the presidents trophy for the first time then losing in 7 to a wild card team after winning the first 3 is the most catastrophic thing one could happen to a team

Also I think the pandemonium that ensued after OT happened because just being a canucks fan you'd have to think the second half of the 3rd period was foretelling a collapse...despite them actually playing good enough in the 1st/2nd/first half of the 3rd.
@jakedemedeiros9978

The former Stanley cup champions tie the game late in the third and instead of seceding to the momentum they just got, the canucks rallied and fought back. If you think that proves they’re soft, you’re a moron.

given the fact that the canucks won the presidents trophy that season & the hawks made the playoffs by the skin of their asses as a wildcard in the last week of the reg season… this comment is invalid lol

@@amanitamuscariatheshroom Hmm, guess you forgot Vancouver was up 3-1 in that series and got pushed into a game 7. Also, that is irrelevant because guess wha happens the following year when the Canucks won the President Trophy again? They got bounced by the Kings in 5 in the first round. So when it comes to real teams, Canuck’s fall apart.

better might be a stretch but obviously the hawks dominated games 4 and and the hawks were lucky to have roughly half of their same team from their cup win the year prior still here in here and they were surely lucky to have gotten David Bolland back in game 4 cause that was certainly the turning point the whole series given how screwed the hawks were the first 3 games without him and once they got him back they immediately got their shit together so gotta give kudos to both sides especially chicago

@@amanitamuscariatheshroom and the fact that it took another team to lose their season finale after they lost theirs for them to clinch it after they failed to do so themselves. I always wonder what it would've looked like if the Stars had won their last game and got that last spot over the hawks and they were to be the ones playing vancouver in the first round. Obviously the canucks did play dallas in round 1 in 2007 and beat them and they prolly would've done the same or won in 6 but would the intensity have been the same? Obviously them getting the hawks was entertaining and it was destined but at the same time i feel for the stars having come that close especially since they were in a playoff spot for most of that season and were one of the hottest teams in the league until the all star break

They finally beat the hawks. That's all that mattered to them that year. They didn't care about winning the cup. Beating the hawks was more important than winning the cup. They were too focused on the this series then the main prize.
