I come back to this because it was one of the best Canuck wins ever, that whole Cup run can't be forgotten so many great memories, same with 1982 and 1994 those were a great 2 months both those years.
@ethanparker7900 Жыл бұрын
i'm sure and hell if chicago had won this game instead, this would've been one of the biggest meltdowns in history given you guys had a 3-0 lead originally and had the presidents trophy and the defending champion hawks barely made it in the playoffs and were 20 points behind the canucks in the standings for the 2010-2011 regular season. Imagine what would've happened to your canucks if they had lost this game. I easily could've seen people losing their jobs and players demanding trades and the team altogether getting ripped down to the studs and no second consecutive presidents trophy the next year as a result. Ofc i was never much of a canucks fan but I respect the hell out of them and to a degree am glad for those that are that they got to see them give the hawks a taste of their own medicine. Most hawk fans while they would never admit so out loud are prolly ok with it too deep down cause they would win 2 more cups in the next 4 years after. But seriously, due to the team coughing up that 3-0 lead I can only imagine how anxious some guys on the coaching staff were like Alain Vigneault and Rick Bowness and Mike Gillis were going into this day or during the game going into OT cause of their job securities possibly being on the line depending on how this game ended. @@clubhouseme

I can't imagine what it must be like to lose to a team two years in a row, than the year you finally have them looking like their down and out you let them back in the series giving up a 3-0 lead, then after shutting them down for almost 59 min., you give up a short handed goal to tie it, only to come out and win off a bad giveaway in OT. if anyone of Malhotra, Samuelsson, Hamhuis had been available to the Canucks for the duration of the Finals, they beat Boston... Never before seen in the playoffs, let alone the Finals.

My thoughts exactly, I always thought the Canucks were still ok after Malhotra's injury, but when Samuelsson got injured, I felt it screwed up the chemistry of each line after that. This sure was a hell of a series. I was only 8 years old at this time and as an 8 year old and a lifelong caps fan who had saw his team the presidents trophy runner up and top seed in the east blast the 8th seeded rangers in 5 games, I had never been so like fascinated with the intensity like here. with the canucks and hawks. The defending champs barely making the playoffs as the 8th seed/2nd wild card despite having like half of the same team from the cup win the year prior and clawing back from a 3-0 deficit on the verge of getting swept to force game 7 was quite impressive and game 7 going into overtime and the canucks ofc getting the presidents trophy and getting revenge on the hawks. I wonder what would've happened with the canucks if the hawks were to have won this game? People gonna lose their jobs like Mike Gillis, Rick Bowness, Alain Vigenault, etc and players demanding trades? And no second consecutive presidents trophy the next season? They sure did dodge a bullet in this game after coughing up that 3-0 lead narrowly avoiding what would've been one of the biggest letdowns in history if chicago had won this game instead of them. That recovery by chicago was uncanny so it is impossible to not give them credit for their effort. This OT goal when I look back on Burrows' career I think this was his biggest one and obviously one of the biggest goals of the 2010s decade altogether. I was never much of a canucks fan but I sure did respect the hell out of them like the twins two of my biggest idols growing up along with Kesler, Bieksa, Hamhuis, Lou, Burrows, Rypien (god bless him) and Raymond and ofc head coach Alain Vigenault. I remember watching this game live on TV this day and ofc it was strange to see the hawks get bounced early but I felt glad for the canuck fans after seeing their team get tortured by the hawks in round 2 the previous 2 years prior and finally getting some sort of vindication to it albeit just barely. All teams have all felt that at some point in our lives. The hawks would ofc win another cup 2 short years later and another 2 years after that so hawk fans don't have anything to complain about tbh looking back at this day.

The Blackhawks didn't lose this series in game 7. They lost it in game 3 when they couldn't hold onto two leads and in a tied 3rd period give up the go-ahead goal to Mikael Samuelsson, an old Detroit playoff nemesis from 2009. Props to Chicago for their comeback attempt from down 0-3, but down 2-1 is a different animal from 0-3. That Ben Smith game 6 OT goal could have been the series clincher and a reverse sweep instead.

It certainly would've been interesting if the canucks had played the stars in round 1 over the hawks since they did so in 2007 but ofc getting the hawks who beat them in 6 games the previous 2 years prior in the second round showed their was unfinished business on the behalf of going up against them since they ofc beat dallas in 2007 and likely would've done so again in easier fashion here had they played them over the hawks

@@amanitamuscariatheshroom Hmm, guess you forgot Vancouver was up 3-1 in that series and got pushed into a game 7. Also, that is irrelevant because guess wha happens the following year when the Canucks won the President Trophy again? They got bounced by the Kings in 5 in the first round. So when it comes to real teams, Canuck’s fall apart.

better might be a stretch but obviously the hawks dominated games 4 and and the hawks were lucky to have roughly half of their same team from their cup win the year prior still here in here and they were surely lucky to have gotten David Bolland back in game 4 cause that was certainly the turning point the whole series given how screwed the hawks were the first 3 games without him and once they got him back they immediately got their shit together so gotta give kudos to both sides especially chicago

@@amanitamuscariatheshroom and the fact that it took another team to lose their season finale after they lost theirs for them to clinch it after they failed to do so themselves. I always wonder what it would've looked like if the Stars had won their last game and got that last spot over the hawks and they were to be the ones playing vancouver in the first round. Obviously the canucks did play dallas in round 1 in 2007 and beat them and they prolly would've done the same or won in 6 but would the intensity have been the same? Obviously them getting the hawks was entertaining and it was destined but at the same time i feel for the stars having come that close especially since they were in a playoff spot for most of that season and were one of the hottest teams in the league until the all star break

Bruce would have won

They finally beat the hawks. That's all that mattered to them that year. They didn't care about winning the cup. Beating the hawks was more important than winning the cup. They were too focused on the this series then the main prize.

Looking back now, I can't believe the high level of hate that I fostered towards these blackhawks... I actually hoped to see Kane and Sharpe and Keith and Bolland etc crippled.

than how did they cruise through nashville and san jose then?

Lucky and luck never brought them a cup.
