Congrats on the maiden! They are an awesome flying EDF! I just made the swap in my BH Viper from 12S SMC 6200 mA LiPo's to 14S 13500 mAh Li Ion packs. Tribunus II 200A ESC. Had to do some airframe mods but getting between 9 min to 11 min flight times with enough juice to go around again if needed. Really enjoying this jet!

Will man,I recommend SMC green packs 7600-8200 for 5-6 min flight time.i would not trust those turningy for a prop plane.that fan and motor draws 160 amps and needs good.packs.great job man 👊
@rcpilotwill6 ай бұрын
Thanks brother. It was my fault on the packs I didn't check them before flight. It was a mistake that could've cost me a lot. I have 4 new HRB 6000s for it now. I plan to only use the pairs for the twin pack planes I fly.

Smc garbage! Smoked 4 packs in a row on this same jet same packs you are recommending , 118 amps wot ! Smc equals crap

@@michaellussoro2295 you must mean the purple lihv SMC Packs.The Green label SMC regular lipos I'm pulling 160 amps and they come down barley warm.

Very nice first and second flight Will! And good camera work Bobby! BUT when I saw those Turnigys in your plane I though WOW, so much $$ and work on that plane and flying that batterys. For being honest I haven´t had any of those but I have seen the most pretty popped so I wouldn´t have trust in them. And checking them confirmed my thougts. But maybe one battery wasn´t charged or not fully charged? Also one could be older (?). HRB are a good option! :) I have confirmed it by myself with a friend too. Testing different brands. Good weight and proper performance! Also in that big Viper I would try 12S2P Molicel P45B giving you 9000mAh at the same weight as those Turnigy and maybe slighly less. Look at @EDFjetRC Wojtek flying LiIon with 2P or sometimes super light 1P :D Soon are coming also 5000 mAh cells from Molicel :D

Hey thanks and I have seen him flying the Lilon packs and he's getting 8 minutes of flight. I just purchased 4 HRB 6000s for the jet and plan to pair them so they will never mix up with any other packs. 2 packs will be marked as pair 1 and the other 2 as pair 2. They will always charge and discharge together.
@ficosk85 ай бұрын
@@rcpilotwill Hey Will! in my small experience HRBs are very good. I have compared them to known and unknown brands. A friend also. Doing thrust measurements and current. I wouldn´t be afraid of mixing those HRBs if they have the same age and similar usage. The internal resistance from factory may differ a bit too and you will not be emptying there until 3,3V or something similar I hoppe. I wish you good flights! I´m also stepping up on a second hand FW Avanti S V2 (I´ll try LiIons) and soon I´ll try to maiden my 90mm Viper from FMS. Thinking to buy the new 90mm Avanti from FMS but it´s pretty the same as the FMS one but smaller wheels and more weight. The color (golden style of Germany ) is cool and the vector nozzle. But I´m still a beginner with too much planes in the basement xD

Pilot Will, what was the outcome of the difference with the 2 packs? I had this happen in my blackhorse after the maiden.
@rcpilotwill3 ай бұрын
So we realized afterward that one pack was not fully charged. We trusted both packs were charged and didn't check them before the flight as part of the preflight
@victorrcjets76606 ай бұрын
Two down Will😊 that first set of packs almost didn't do the job😮 makes me debate to use new or used packs for a maiden 😊 the landing speed will get slower as the Nerves settle down😊
@rcpilotwill6 ай бұрын
Yeah we didn't check the packs before flight. I was so focused on preventing motor and esc failure I forgot the most important thing. Checking my energy source. 😆 My 2nd flight I was a little more relaxed but you're correct the more flights the more comfortable I'll get. 👍🏾

Great flights Will, congratulations. Check out my flights on my turbine version. Truly a great plane! A slightly rearward CG will allow you to get a good flare, you've got to get the mains down first or she'll be down for repairs. Great job.
