To answer your question, the mod does go against the spirit of the game, but only because of how the PAL key is handled. If there were no changes to the core gameplay, I'd have no problems with it. Even then, I think with further tweaks, this mod should exist on the leaderboard, just as its own explicit category.

I dunno man, I feel like modding giant parts of the game out kinda no longer makes it a speed run of Metal Gear Solid. Its just a speed run of whatever this is.

Seriously, the whole thing that makes speed runs impressive is the different ways people cleverly circumvent mechanics of the game without changing anything to go as fast as possible. This is just lazy.
