For a quick shave i use my safty razor too. But since i retired, i prever a straight razor shave every day.

@@BarberDavethanks Dave. I’m not a “Soap Guy” meaning, I don’t want every scent that PAA, Hags, and others distribute. Meaning I don’t want to collect Soaps. I buy 1 or 2 from Soap artisans, and use them.. replace them once empty or don’t if I didn’t like it. Rinse and repeat. I have a Saponificio Varesino, Abbate Y La Mantia, couple PAA & A&E, Hags, Etc. Probably 12-15 soaps.. planning on passing forward most and keeping around 5 max. Only keeping my favorite TOP5🤷🏼♂️

Another great one Dave. I did something similar last week. I put all my vintage and classic razors on display and now I have only two modern that I use on a daily basis. Will I ever use my vintage razors again? Sure they just won't be in my regular rotation.

Blackland has the Vector at 220 for the machined finish, so it's quite a bit cheaper than what you guessed LOL.

Have you found that the vector binds and warps the blade and there was mention that the blade ends up getting stuck in the top cap because the top cap warps over time. Don’t know if that was an issue that was resolved but I just ordered a vector yesterday and I’m now concerned this may be an issue over time.
@BarberDave Жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching. I have had my Vector since almost when it first came out and I have had no issues at all regarding what you mentioned. If not kept clean sometimes the blade can be a bit challenging, but a small tap with the head piece and it falls right off. As to warping? Not all all. But don’t over torque when tightening. I exclusively use Feather Pro guards, and again no problems, and the razor has been flawless. You will love it! Let us know how you like it. Hope this helps

Dave another fascinating video. I’m curious what is it about the CBL tonic that makes it so much better than Thayers? When will iT(😂) be available?

The scent more than anything and the protective properties are just as good, but the fragrance is so strong and lingers as well

Great video:) just curious about this CBL soap you mentioned it's currently your favorite soap base ? Is this soap you have a new soap base from CBL ? Also how strong would you say the scent is out of 10 on this soap, I have very sensitive skin so don't like over powering things they normally irritate my skin
@BarberDave Жыл бұрын
This is my favorite soap base, and the scent is punched up I would give it a solid 8-9

@@BarberDave ok so do you know what this soap base is called is it only available for this scent or is all there scents have this same base ? Ok unfortunately the scent sounds abit to strong for me

How do you think the cbl tonic aftershave compares to the stirling witch hazel base aftershaves?
@BarberDave Жыл бұрын
Well, I dont think they can be compared actually, Teh CBL aftershave are like an AS Milk, part aftershave part balm and are extremely nourishing and protective, whereas the Stirling are a bit lighter in consistency and fade a bit quicker IMHO. Although they are both fantastic
@josebarrios2464 Жыл бұрын
@@BarberDave how long does a bottle of the cbl last? I’m new to wet shaving (about 2 years) how much do you think a cbl and a stirling last of used every two days?
@BarberDave Жыл бұрын
@@josebarrios2464 well if you just use about a dimes size to nickel size it should last you at least a year 6-months at the minimum

Great comparison Dave. I have the Ti Vector and love it. I haven’t purchased the Osprey yet, maybe in the near future I’ll purchase it. I do have the Rex Ambassador though ( 2022 iteration) Have you tried the Rex yet? If so, what are your thoughts? I personally find it to be smooth and incredibly efficient. Take care

Why do you run the brush over your face so much? You can only get so much soap on your face, after two motions it seems like wasted time and energy.
@BarberDaveАй бұрын
First off thanks for watching. Secondly, I’ll answer that question and two parts. As far as getting soap on your face, you’re incorrect in your statement because if you’re not using the canned goop, and you are using a true shaving soap, you build the lather on your face and you’re actually using a brush to actually scrub that soap into your face, so it goes into your sebaceous glands That will activate those and actually mix some facial oil with the soap which makes it slicker You are also trying to create a cushion, so the razor has something to glide over so all those extra motions are building that ladder as you’re adding water and incorporating it. Finally, if you’re doing the shaving habit, you’re doing it to relax and have 25 or 30 minutes to enjoy your shave so really there’s no wasted time or energy when you’re in the wet shaving hobby now if all of you’re doing is shaving with a cartridge razor and goop, then I have to ask are you looking at shaving as a chore or is an enjoyment factor so I would say you’re incorrect that you can only get so much soap on your face you can keep building it until you get it to where you want it I hope that answers your question
