Your explanation answers so many unanswered questions in the movie. I have two observations which needs some explanation. One:- In the starting of the movie, there is a scene where Shajivan is speaking to his wife over phone and their conversation is shown in the movie. This conversation is happening outside Churuli.Now if assume that there is a time spiral in play and Shajivan is making his 'n'th entry, then how can we understand from the conversation with wife which is happening outside Churuli. Is she also part of the time spiral? Second:- If we go by the understanding that Shajivan and Soubin character entered Churuli two years back, then how can DGP send Shajivan again to Churali with a new accomplice,Anthony ?

Yes I've noticed that, there are two main events where the radio sounds stands out, one is the scene after the Kurbana, and other is the mirror scene, I've actually reached out to a Kannada friend to translate the message on radio, I tried Google translator but it wasn't making any sense. But she was busy with her exams and all so I haven't got it translated, but As an Editor myself these kind of sounds are often used to hide sudden cuts and stuff, but it's LJP so 😂.. Once I get it translated I'll add my thoughts on that in the description. Thanks for the comment ❤️

Great explanation. Totally agreed.. I also feel that Joju George's character Thankan is not happy about this time cycle and that's why he goes out from the village every year at that time. Thankan is shown angry and irritated .. he shouts at others saying. "ni enthinada kanunavare ellam vilich varthunn ?.. and Jaffer says "Ni enthinada chood avunn . Ninde perum paranj pandum pala thavana vannitille " something like that. Also I felt like the people wanted to kill them to end that time cycle. Anyways Churuli is a masterpiece from LJP.

Let me explain what i understood. Churuli is an conversion center, which converts humans to Aliens, a fully converted Alien will close the eyes if another Alien does the same, and Shajeevan gets fully converted only in the climax, there are few scenes where opposite character close their eyes looking at him, but Shajeevan doesnt do the same. this shows that Shajeevan was not fully converted before the climax. Shajeevan need to lose his humanity and commit criminal acts to get converted. he sexually abuses the boy, kills kodakan and a wild animal to complete his conversion( Mind that kodakan had abused him in multiple previous loops and Shajeevan finally takes the revenge). Pengal helps to convert Antony. there is only time spiral, whoever visits Churuli are forced to do criminal acts and get converted to Alien. in the next loop someone may come to grab Shajeevan. they will get converted may be in one loop, or in multiple loops till they commit some crimes.

ALl right so this is my version of understanding the movie.. Tell me if it makes sense..!! So starting with Thirumeni (Police 1), Kotta/kooda (Police 2.. an empty vessel where the madan has control over) Criminal (madan/alien himsef) THE whole village is scared or listens to just 3 persons [THE OLD MAN, PENGAL, and the CRIMINAL] whom are possesed by the aliens lets say 1)The old man being the ALPHA tool of the aliens where his house being the whole time loop machine 2)Pengal being the Beta tool of the aliens where she worships the aliens and provides for them controlling the whole villlage 3) The criminal, which changes in every loop lets say the phantom or the least gamma tool Churuli, A deep forest in the midst of nowhere shud have been a perfect hideout for criminals and hence there are so many criminals in that place.. LOOP 1 ORIGIN - Now a person (Vasu) commits crime such as killing a person, hunting wild animals, and sexually abusing a child.. Word goes out to the police by the old man with beedi, who has a daughter v never see lets say he is scared of letting her out beccause of the criminals... AT this very moment there is an alien invasion in that village making the house of the old man the time loop machine and as v see he doesn't speak in the whole movie which may also indicate that he lost the ability of speaking or he is directly under the alien control who has the control of the time loop and thus making him, the alpha tool for the aliens Pengal on the other hand who is already doing all these occult practices , healing and maybe other works too if u know what i mean.. worship the aliens and provide for them making her the BETA TOOL, controlling the people in the village Criminal/madan who changes in every loop is the jeopardizing factor for the alien, if he's caught revelaing the place of the aliens, and hence he is under the control of pengal.. and the 2nd police is under the control of the (Madan/ criminal) Now there are 2 policemen who arrive at CHURULI in search of Vasu... One police among them is directly under the influence of the MADAN/PHANTOM mimicking the actions and behavior of the (MADAN/PHANTOM/CRIMINAL) .Eventually the 2nd police kills a guy, kills a wild animal and that's where the 1st policeman injures his back and is taken to pengal and she cures him and make him under her influence meanwhile the 2nd police man sexually abuses a kid just as the MADAN/ CRIMINAL DID. THe second police is not always under the influence of the MADAN and hence he's scared and confused most of the times.During this process somehow they play along with the village and find vasu at last .! But taking the criminal away might jeopardize the place of the aliens hence a loop is triggered by the ALPHA TOOL.. triggering the 1st loop.. which meas there are no additional character or luring. The 1st police(thirumeni) the second police (kotta/kooda) and the criminal (MADAN/PHANTOM) keeps interchanging EXACT MOVIE PLOT: THIRUMENI (chemban vinoth) KOTTA /KOODA( vinay fort) PHANTOM/MADAN (soubin) chemban and vinay comes to churuli.. people talk about aliens and say that 2 americans were take in a vehicle .. and the other guy asks where did they take them? thats symbolic of vinay and chemban taking the jeep and going to CHURULI by the people who are under the control of the aliens.. NOW everything happens as before.. !! In this LOOP 1st police as chemba, 2nd as vinay and soubin as criminal.. this loop must have happened lots of time.. thats y when vinay goes to the old man's house and look thru the window hes see's himself in the time loop machine with those lights around.. and chemban being under the control of pengal is shown when he's being healed in pengals place.. there is a visual where chemban walks down in the spiral steps indicating he's been influenced . At the end of the movie the characers keep interchangng, thirumeni- chemban.. becoming the next vessel for the madan to play with becoming the kotta/koodi KOTTA- SOUBIN.. in an euphoric obliviated state.. becoming the thirumeni PHANTOM/CRIMINAL- VINAY... since this time he's the one who did all those crimes because he was unnder the influence of MADAN/ SOUBIN NEXT Loop: thirumeni: SOUBIN KOTTA/KOODA: CHEMBAN criminal: vinay NEXT LOOP: thirumeni:vinay KOTTA/KOODA:soubin criminal: chemban NEXT lOOP: thirumeni :chemban KOTTA/KOODA:vinay criminal:soubin and these loops keep interchanging

Just a small theory of mine:- Shahjeevan is not the maadan, because the anteater was supposed to misguide the monk from getting to the demon. Shahjeevan on the other hand was eager to catch joy since the moment they reached there, when even Antony was laid back I think Thankan is the maadan, because when he was taking them to joys house he purposely took long routes, when the villagers knew the shorter route and took that instead. Also, there's a scene where Thankan goes well ahead of the cops and they almost mistake him to have escaped, but he was just a bit ahead. I think this represents the maadans supernatural ability to travel faster So, shahjeevan is just possesed by the maadan when they need him, that's when that suspensful music comes in the movie. There's a scene where the hunter is beating Antony and shahjeevan is trying to stop him.. out of nowhere that music comes, and shahjeevan startes intently at the source of the sound but nothing happens

Churuli is nothing but a hypnotic trance, a feeling that you get when you start using your mobile, laptop etc. The bridge acts as a metaphor, a connection to internet or social media. People after crossing the bridge are people with no limits who can change identities as they wish and swear at anyone at will (How many times have you done it?) This is something that you would never say outside of social media or in the real world :) Story of Churuli below: You open your mobile or laptop to finish a simple task. You complete your task but still you want to keep browsing and it has an effect that stops you from leaving your mobile or laptop. You get lost in it even though you may have achieved what you came for. This is the ending of Churuli, the hypnotic trance that is stopping you from keeping your mobile away. This movie is made for the social media fools or addicts like YOU and me. Get out and LIVE. So now tell me in your case, who is the thirumeni and what (or) who is the maadan?
