You explain things so well Justin. I'm no mechanic but have always been interested in knowing more about it. I'm always surprising people by attempting to do mechanic work on my car myself by learning from You Tube videos. I've even been successful a few times. I need videos like this. You are so easy to understand. I feel the confidence to do it myself with your instruction.

Amazing video 😮you made the most sense and I learnt more in this video than anything else I have read.👍👍 I have a 1981 puma gti from Brazil and I have lack of power at different rpm’s. I am new at this but thank you 🙏

23:30 NO! The stock threads are not pipe thread, they are M10x1.0. If you thread an NPT gauge into it you can damage the threads and cause an oil leak.

Justin I realise that this video has been on KZbin for two years now. However I have only just stumbled across your video. I need to say that this is the most informative video that I have ever seen on compression and leak-down testing. Really well delivered and it gives me the confidence to start carrying out these tests for myself. Kind Regards Barry

Excellent video. I used a compression tester last year and didn't know the throttle had to be opened.I know now.In future could you do a common bolt on upgrade comparison for stock,before and after for exhaust vs quietpack,1.25 rocker vs 1.4,single carb vs dual.That would take the guesswork out of buying parts!

Justin pretty good information!!, Just wondering about those sumps added on I made the pick up tube drop lower inside the screen filter wondering is neasary to do that and used adjustable oil pressure relief valve to this at the time was a 1835 build engine?!
@SRV-gi7vrАй бұрын
Great video. I have a couple of questions for you. I need to change my valve guides and was wondering how many thousandths loose do you ream the guides. Should I purchase adjustable reamers or the drill bit type reamer? Once I remove the old guides and mic them, should I replace them with .001 or .002 over? Thanks

I bought a new set of Pacino's from CB performance heads and I live in Sacramento CA. The first two months seem to be great. Now the car runs really sluggish and it's summertime. I'm curious is there a shortcut to finding out if the heads are cracked. Without taking the heads off the heads off ?.....

hi justin great video! only 1 question! can you do a compression test on the engine by cranking it over yourself? im building a type 4 2257cc stroker vw engine but i only have a engine stand NO GEARBOX AND STARTER or do i need a special RPM to get ik goinG? i have new /rework heads and pistons en liners but no good compression! do you need to oil the liners and pistons first to get compression? thanks joris de vet // the netherlands

Great video. Does the engine have to be cold or warm when doing the compression test?
@ahmedelwensh93204 жыл бұрын
Good question, i hope u got the answer But in my opinion, it's not that hard not to test twice, cold and hot .
@JoshDavis-m9b Жыл бұрын
I done a compression test on my 1835 and now it won't start.
@blacklineracing Жыл бұрын
If it ran beforehand and all you did was a compression test then most likely the problem will be with spark plug wires installed on the wrong plugs. Also make sure you have a rotor in the distributor.
