Blacklist offending bus company directors from operating businesses: CAP

The Consumers' Association of Penang (CAP) has called on the Transport Ministry to bolster enforcement of tour and express buses following the recent fatal crash on Jalan Genting-Bentong.
CAP president Mohideen Abdul Kader said the Transport Ministry, the police and the Road Transport Department must address the issue immediately, as they undermine passenger confidence.
The crash on June 29 left two Chinese nationals dead and several others injured after their tour bus landed on its side while travelling downhill.
Police had said that the driver did not have a driving licence and had 27 previous traffic summonses.
Since 2022, there have been at least 32 express bus accidents in Malaysia.
Mohideen said, invoking a seldom-used Road Transport Act provision to fine offending companies up to RM500,000 or imprison them for two years, was insufficient and suggests blacklisting company directors from operating transport businesses.
He added that the Land Public Transport Agency can suspend or cancel licences under section 45 of the Land Public Transport Act 2010.

Govt just need to amend the law that if found hiring drivers that are not competent will result in imprisonment for the company officers/directors. Just like how a company is found disposing scheduled waste the director if found guilty will be subjected to prison sentence. The director will put very strong condition on the officer in charge to ensure such thing will never happen.

Sue them & blacklisted those bus operators for life...do not ever let them apply for licences to operate the bus business under a different name!

Egg tray nust be seal from packing prior distribution. There are mix brand, mix sizes sold in sundry shops, who is checking and enforce consumer right?

Blacklist ? How will that help when now drivers without licenses are on the road.. Obviously CAP is not serious in eradicating the problem.. Its jail time and rotan.. Otherwise it will never end !

Seems we have a very weak JPJ since God knows when. Only when someone died, actions became alive - for a little while only.
