Basically, if you are using the Mini Pro ISO with OBS to stream, as we have to as we need some opacity in graphics we need to import and overlay when filming motor sport that the atem does not offer, buy the extreme instead. If the additional device was £50 (what it's probably worth), then it's a workaround, but at over £225 it's a nonsense of a solution when comparing the additional functionality of the extreme for the difference in price, plus you have a lot more inputs. Bought a 3 port usb c hub so I could go to two ssd's and the laptop, but the laptop does not then see the atem as a web camera input in OBS.

By the time you buy the bridge, approx. $230, an ATEM MIni Pro ISO $500 (amazon sale), and a low latency capture card $150-200, you might as well save another $420 to buy the Extreme ISO tbh. And the upside you'll have less middlemen devices that create a lot of latency, something you don't need on a professional production. When the Mini Pro Iso first came out you always needed a bridge which was almost $180 less than buying the Extreme ISO. In the end its only a firmware/software wall that Blackmagic doesn't want to fix because its a way to up sale. The Mini Pro ISO spec wise is capable of sending video from the ethernet without streaming. They don't want to fix it because the bridge would die in the market, as it should. If BMD don't create a switcher that sends video out via ethernet without streaming someone will.

Record your iso on the atem mini iso and use the HDMI out to plug into a normal atem mini and use that devices usb to webcam. That would work right? Would this work if the streaming Bridge, both ATEMS, a Hyperdeck Studio Mini and two Laptops (one running OBS, the other one running the ATEM software) were connected via a network HUB?
@siskoDE3 жыл бұрын
Short question. I own a Macbook Pro from 2018. I last connected my DSLR via USB and integrated it into OBS using a software solution. A USB mic is also connected to the Macbook Pro. When streaming, the Macbook Pro box has already reached its limits and the CPU load ensures that you can actually no longer use the computer to work in a program and stream a video tutorial, for example. The ATEM Mini Pro with built-in encoder could solve this problem for me. In any case, I understand it that way, when I connect all the hardware mentioned to the ATEM Mini Pro and also connect my Macbook Pro to the ATEM via HDMI, that I can stream directly from the ATEM Mini Pro and the entire CPU performance would no longer come to fruition yes the ATEM is working. How does it all work when I connect all my hardware to the ATEM Mini Pro and connect it to my Macbook Pro via USB-C and then stream from my Macbook Pro via OBS (source is then ATEM video and audio). Is the CPU utilization of my Macbook Pro even smaller than when I use the first scenario without ATEM? Have you been able to gain experience on this?

A simpler option (if you can sacrifice multiview) is to connect the UVC device between ATEM HDMI Out and Laptop USB-C port. OBS will see the ATEM feed as a webcam. The ATEM USB-C port could be used to record.

I have a question that is SOMEWHAT related to this, but it may help someone else too. I have a Hyperdeck Studio, a Video Assist 3G, Atem Mini Pro, and the Streaming Bridge is on the way. I have the Atem Mini Pro's program going into OBS as a webcam. I want to be able to use the Streaming Bridge in the same way you are, but with a twist. Instead , I want to use the USB-C port to record to my external SSD (which is a given), yes, but I want to be able to use my Streaming Bridge to send SDI or HDMI signal to my Blackmagic Video Assist. Then, using the Video Assist 3G 's webcam ability to go to OBS Studio (for guest interivews), and project the final OBS Output to my GTX-1080ti's display to an HDMI adapter and record the final output back into the Video Assist. I believe the latest update to the Video Assist 3G gave it the ability to select which channel to record (SDI or HDMI). I prefer to keep my Hyperdeck for playback instead of recording, since it can do auto-roll from the switcher, and the Video Assist cannot. If this is not possible to record back to the Video Assist on another channel, I plan to BEG Blackmagic to update the Hyperdeck Studio firmware so that I could record on one SSD while using the other for playback. I have a feeling that I will be forced to use the Atem Mini Pro's USB-C for webcam to OBS, the GPU's display port output converted to HDMI to the Video Assist for recording OBS Output, and therefore nullifying the external USB-C SSD. If this s wordy or verbose, I am also typing this for myself as a reference point while it is in my head.

I think you are doing this wrong. I was under the impression that you are supposed to connect the ethernet cable from your router straight into the ATEM. This puts the ATEM on your network and gives it internet and also allows you to control it via the ATEM software. Then you also connect a separate ethernet cable from your router to the Streaming Bridge port. This now puts the Streaming Bridge on your network. Then you go into the ATEM software and in the streaming settings, instead of choosing KZbin or Facebook to stream to, you choose the Streaming Bridge which should now show up as an option. This allows you to stream to the streaming bridge (which is connected via the capture card to your computer) AND still be able to use the ATEM software to control the switcher.

Or you can just use vMix (with the 4k or Pro version) for all your ISO recording and better streaming than OBS and then a Blackmagic Quad Capture PCIe card and it's cheaper and more capable. If you're using laptops, you can simply get an eGPU enclosure to connect to the laptop and consider adding SSD drives and other cool aspects to the eGPU enclosure. This setup seems like a hodge podge workaround and is limited to 1080p. 4k 60p is available in the setup I described. NDI is the future, Blackmagic needs to get on board.
@fearbabyriffs3 жыл бұрын
Even if you run love the idea of Vmix features running on a high end box (I do & have run it daily since 2017) .....the weak spot is it runs on WIndows & Windows is not the most stable operating system. NDI also has latency. Plus most people/viewers still don't have unbelievable data plans & home internet to even be interested in wasting it streaming 4k 60p content on the small percentage who are dedicated to viewing everything at those higher resolutions. If a person is recording high end live high resolution concerts/once in a lifetime events they are are probably going to be post editing it anyway not filming it via Vmix hoping Windows doesn't error out. I think BMD has a good product here to address mid res live recording stability.

Thanks for your video! Can we still control the cameras with this setup? (blackmagic micro studio 4k)
@TheVideoContentFactory3 жыл бұрын
Youre welcome! So you can control the cameras before the stream by connecting to your computer through the ethernet or usb-c port, then using the ATEM control software (like we all know how to do). But! you can run your switcher through your network so that you can split the ethernet signal to the streaming bridge and your computer. This will allow you to control the cameras and use OBS at the same time. Without the network though, you cannot control the ATEM and use OBS at the same time.

One more question. I'd like to use one of the streaming bridge SDI outputs to run into our remote monitors in our building via a cable setup that already exist. Will the HDMI ouput now interrupt this process?
@TheVideoContentFactory3 жыл бұрын
It shouldn’t! Technically the outputs on the Streaming Bridge are active at all times but we can test this specific situation and get back to you!

ah man, thank you I AM SO CLOSE to getting this to work But my "on air" button won't stop blinking, i've already reset, done all the research I know to do, and it won't stop blinking and so I'm not getting signal in obs, all other parts have been tested and work and this seems to be the main issue Any help from community here, would be freaking amazing AF
@TheVideoContentFactory Жыл бұрын
Are you using the streaming bridge? If so that means your streaming settings are off and it isn't connecting to that device. I'd recommend updating the firmware on streaming bridge so that creation of the xml is easier. Let me know how I can help!

@@TheVideoContentFactory It was the streaming bridge and settings yes! Thank you so freaking much. So helpful

This would still work if I replaced OBS with Zoom, right? I’m trying to stream over the Ethernet port and (using an Ethernet switch) have the capability to output a Zoom webcam

Question! So if you’re using the Ethernet cable from the Pro ISO into the Atem Streaming Bridge, then that to the capture card on your computer. Does that mean you no longer have access to the Atem Setup app on a computer?
@TheVideoContentFactory3 жыл бұрын
No, technically not. If you run your Switcher through your network (a router), you can split the signal from the Atem to your streaming bridge and computer to regain control through the Atem setup program.

No real dip, the atem minis only output 720/1080 to begin with keep in mind.

Could you use the stream /Ethernet out thru the bridge and capture card to disc to record and use the USBc out to OBS without the delay?
@TheVideoContentFactory3 жыл бұрын
Yes I actually don't see any reason why not. But you will lose the ability to record the ISOs which is the beauty of the Atem mini pro ISO unit. That would certainly work for program record.

one thing though you haven't shown that if the iso is still working because not sure why my atem mini is not detecting in the computer.

TOO OBSOLETE - why not use the HDMI OUT on ATEM PRO ISO?
@TheVideoContentFactory Жыл бұрын
NOT OBSOLETE - The HDMI out on the ATEM MINI Pro ISO is the ONLY output on that switcher. We still wanted to monitor our cameras with Multiview. The ATEM Mini Extreme ISO solves that issue though with it boasting 2 HDMI outputs and Two USB-C ports (one for web cam out and the other for ISO Recording).

Using the ATEM Bridge remotely over the internet, is it possible to connect a camera to the usb c or to either of the SDI REF IN connections to than broadcast that camera through a an ATEM SDI Extreme ISO locality and out to a Zoom audience. (Don’t know if the Bridge HDMI is bidirectional.) Would the ATEM Bidirectional SDI HDMI 12G Converter be required to use a remote camera feed in this scenario?
@terryleahy69542 жыл бұрын
Currently the Bridge is not bidirectional. However what you can do is have the Bridge at the home studio, and run a camera into the ATEM SDI Pro (or extreme) and use a 5G phone signal to broadcast untethered

So I just used this setup for streaming from my ATEM mini pro. Is there a way to still do lower thirds without being able to use the computer interface?
@canvas_sf2 жыл бұрын
I could use your help! I connected everything as showed and while my computer is seeing the Blackmagic, it is not seeing the video feed via ethernet. I've tried two different ethernet cables to check that it wasn't a cable issue and connected my camera directly to my atem mini pro to ensure it wasn't an hdmi cable issue also and that worked. So I'm not sure what the problem is? I just received the Atem Mini Pro Iso yesterday, so I guess maybe that could be broken? But I doubt it. Thoughts?

You can, but with only a single HDMI out, you are choosing program only instead of also getting a multi view out in addition to program feed.

It should be possible to go from the pro iso to a capture card directly, shouldn’t it? Or is the HDMI out already in use elsewhere?
@terryleahy69543 жыл бұрын
The problem is that the HDMI out is being used for a multiview monitor. This workaround is designed to allow you to also use the multiview monitor via HDMI out.
