Highlights from Whitaker Center concert on May 19th 2022. Great night and unforgettable concert, Ritchie at times telling great stories, very entertaining. This was totally worth my trek from Texas to Pennsylvania.
Cheers!!!

I always respect Richie for doing what he wants to do rather than what a lot of people want him to be doing; he's paid his dues and I really like some of their songs, despite not being into folk.

Yo guys. Blackmore has the right to do any music he wants to. They’re having fun. Stop with the BS because he doesn’t want to be an 80 yo man running around like a 20yo doing loud rock songs Eg mick and The Who. If you want the old Blackmore, listen to his old albums. But stop laying into him because he’s not doing what you think he should be doing. I don’t want to hear a Blackmore sounding like he’s in a tribute band to make bucks. Get over it.

As someone who was around to buy the original release of the earliest Deep Purple albums and then was blown away by the arrival of Rainbow I feel the need to say that the combination of Ritchie's guitar skills and Candice's heart piercing vocals and woodwinds plus the wonderful backing musicians in Blackmore's Night make it my very favorite of all of Ritchie's musical work. It's the combination of heartfelt lyrics and beautiful melodies and a feeling of love and friendship that emanates from the stage. It's like you accept the band as a part of yourself and they accept you in the same way. It's the old "All for one and one for all". You can laugh, smile and shed a tear without embarrassment because you're amongst friends.

Ian Anderson has performed with Blackmore's Night. When that happened two of the top performers ever on one stage. Huge Tull Fan. Anderson acted out the songs. A true originator of blending the past, and bringing it to a culture that wasn't really educated on that. Mainly Americans but I got it. My Pop was a Opera Singer and he loved Renaissance Minstrel Music. They are always about mystical things like Jack In The Green by Tull.

Have to say that Blackmore's project is not my cup of tea really. I see that he started a new life , now he's touring along with his wife and doesn't miss being out of home like in the former great good times with Purple or Rainbow. In the other hand, Anderson will tour till he is able to do it, playing his stuff till the end. Life is a long song.

For years, I idolized Players like Blackmore and Martin Barre. But, I always jammed to the heavier stuff. Playing along with "Highway Star" and "Lazy," weren't hard to figure out. "Child in Time" gave me fits in trying to replicate the medieval riffs Ritch was playing. Now at 66 and still playing Rock, I fell in with an older woman who plays such music. She asked if I would be interested. I'm now playing "Star of the County Down" and "Tam Lin" Among others as well. I think the most recently written songs we play are "Faraway Land" and "Temperance Reel." All I can say is, if you think you're all that as a player. Try some Hot Club, or Olde Folke Music. You'll be better for it in the end.

One of the saddest things an artist can do is rely on their previous accomplishments, doing nothing but playing 40 year old songs like a tribute band .. While Blackmore's Night is not my favorite of Ritchie's amazing career, I give him all the credit and respect for doing something different and constantly creating new music ... I'd rather listen to Blackmore's Night and their new stuff than see Ritchie pathetically rehashing decades old songs like Smoke On The Water or Street Of Dreams - that's not what being an artist is about .. Love him or hate him, Ritchie is doing his thing

@@robertwilletts4122 I don't recall mentioning The Eagles, and I don't think you understood my point .. There are groups, some with very few original members, that will tour and simply play oldies .. Blackmore's Night has put out 11 albums since 1997, so of course they will play songs from the previous 20 years .. The difference is that they have been perpetual, never breaking up and reforming simply to make a buck ...I couldn;t care less what other people like or will pay for, I simply stated my opinion ... My all-time favorite band - KISS - is as guilty of what I am talking about as anyone - a once exciting and meaningful band now touring as an oldies tribute act .. Ritchie is at least keeping creative

Unrivaled Maestro Ritchie Blackmore, in the past, present and future ..... feeling, touch, technique, sound ... wonderful! and for those who criticize, shooting bullshit, it probably hasn't entered his head yet (maybe in the ass) that this man is a fucking genius and the greatest guitarist ever, he can play EVERYTHING and above all do whatever the FUCK he likes .... BLACKMORE IS BLACKMORE, AND YOU ARE NOT A FUCK !!!!

Ian Gillan said Ritchie now lives in the world of Greensleeves. That's ok but (naturally) his fans of Deep Purple days ache for him to give us new guitar compositions of the type and standard in Child in Time, Lazy, Stormbringer etc. etc. And of course Ritchie knows this. But it doesn't look as if we're gonna get 'em. No I'm afraid Greensleeves it is. Which begs the question well why not? 1. It could be he that he still can, but is starving his fans and simply does not want to (his prerogative) 2. It could be that GENIUS has a shelf life and that like John Lennon went from writing mighty classics such as Get Back, Paperback Writer, Strawberry Fields, Yellow Submarine, etc. to the embarrassing Plastic Ono Band when he lost his Genius so Ritchie now does Blackmore Nights with his wife. Personally I do not think Ritchie was sent on Earth for the above. But if he's happy well I wish him well. Thanks Ritchie for your contribution to giving definition to the rock guitar.
