3:48 you say to abandon the hive. Was that because they were queenless? I had 2 strong hives that lost their queens in oct in Canada due to formic pro. I fed them extra giving protein patties and they being winter bees , hung on. I gave them queens the beginning of may and were a strong hive through summer. Oct came around again and yellow jackets became a huge problem. All 3 of my hives absconded 2 wks apart.

Why are you not combining the weak colony (with no queen) with one of the queenright colonies?

I know this is an old video, but to put it in context, what month did you film this. It is obviously not the start of October. Unless that is it that cold and windy in Welsh Land that all the leaves have fallen of the trees.

Yeah. Doing a few reruns of the good ones. Still 3 x brand new videos each week on Fri/Sat/Sun though. Just filling in some midweek reruns :)
