Excellent video and explanation on making creamed honey. And that Lyson creaming machine is a very nice piece of kit for sure. This is my first year experimenting with making creamed honey and I have about nine more days before my first batch is complete. Thanks for sharing.

Hello, thanks for your awesome video. You suggest in this one that you mention your ball valve setup in other videos. Is there one where you go into detail about size specs and where to purchase these, or do Lyson sell them as an add-on? I definitely need one! Thanks for your time,

Hi Laurence When you said don’t whisk it up, on my first extraction last august I forgot to open the valve to let the honey out. the frames spinning around ended up whipping the honey “a lot” I left it to get the air out but not a chance. Over a month it changed not into a soft set but a very hard set honey. ( I hadn’t added any seed)

Hi Lawrance hope your well, I've just bought a 50l creamer from abelo just a couple of questions, when you put crystallised honey in at 38°c how long do you leave it turning before its ready to put your seed in, also if left in there and sets to soft set what temp can you re heat to to then bottle without it changing the crystal size again if that makes sense Thanks Rob

What temperature is the liquid honey when you add the seed? If it is 38 C won't it melt teh seed to liquid honey?
@BlackMountainHoney
@BlackMountainHoney 3 жыл бұрын
No. It needs to be 45c plus to reset the crystal structure. It may melt it, but it will still crystallise as the seed crystal size

if I have a large drum of runny honey, how would you suggest getting it into the creaming machine?
@BlackMountainHoney
@BlackMountainHoney 3 жыл бұрын
Super strong spade or some sort of heating blanket around the drum to liquefy

Very informative video, though you said you room is a bit cramped for space the layout seems to look well placed, I like the wooden finish of your extraction room, is it possible to do a video on your setup?

Does the top come off the creamer for cleaning? How do you clean the machine after use?
@BlackMountainHoney

How do you fill the heated creamer tank. If you fill it from the bottom isn’t that considered added pressurized water if you use a hose from the sink. Also how do,you know when it’s full.. I am looking to purchase but the info is very limited as far as specs are concerned. Learned a lot from your videos! Thanks
@BlackMountainHoney
@BlackMountainHoney 3 жыл бұрын
Just pour in buckets or pump the honey in from the top. There is a persex hatch

Thanks for the quick response. I might have scrambled everything. To fill the water jacket with water is there another place to fill besides the drain? I have never seen a complete 360 of this unit. I am debating whether to purchase a 70l un heated and if needed warm the honey up by other ways.

@@GreenMonkiCoffee2008 There is no water jacket. Its an insulated tank with wire heaters. Really simple. Id definitely recommend the heated version. So much more versatile

@@BlackMountainHoneyyours is a Lyson? This is the description of the 18l : The water jacket is heated by a 230V AC 2000 watt replaceable heating element, and is thermostatically controlled by a simple analog temperature knob. A temperature indicator is provided to monitor the water jacket temperature.

Hi, Great video....do you need to heat honey at all before jarring or creaming, if still runny ? Or is fermentation an issue ? Hoping for my 1st crop this year. Many thanks !
@BlackMountainHoney
@BlackMountainHoney 4 жыл бұрын
Hi. If still runny it just goes straight in with no heating. If its set, it need decrystalising prior to creaming or jarring. Fermentation only an issue if the water content is too high. Aim for below 17%

We only sell one size - 8oz - 227g. All depends on pricing. People want a big jar for little money. I want a little jar for big money. I'd say 12oz is the happy medium maybe but we are set on 8oz

No. Definitely not. Beauty of this machine is that is churns the honey as it sets. You can go straight in from the hive as raw honey, add your seed, set to churn and the product is ready!

Tried mixing the seed using a drill. Took me about 20 min to mix and jarred it. On the second week It was as hard as a rock.... Why? Somebody told me I need to mix it for a couple of days,,, If i buy this lyson creamer, will it give me a smoother softer honey everytime?
@BlackMountainHoney
@BlackMountainHoney 3 жыл бұрын
You need repeated mixing over a few days to break down the crystals. Lyson works really well at producing a smooth creamed honey.

Thanks Laurence.....Hey thanks for this video. You inspired me to get a lyson creamer. Quick question. What is your experience with using the creamer. Do you need to operate it at 14 C (ie. do the creaming processing), or can you do the creaming operation at room temperature or there abouts and then move the creamed honey in jars to 14 C. Thanks in Advance. Tony Van Oostrom, WillowBee Apiary. :)
