While not as fun, a simple option is to get a high yield checking/savings account and when you get the card throw it in a drawer. Then set up your work's direct deposit or something to put some amount you might not miss into it. For example, if you get paid bi-weekly, put $100 each check away and if you can forget about it, it'd be an easy $2600 per year plus the interest yield. If you can spare the money for the 100 envelope challenge more than once, put it there. It'd save the same, but gain interest. You could maybe get another $200+ a year from one challenge amount. May not seem like much but it's a good way to build up an emergency or vacation fund without feeling like you're saving. Even easier if you set up after a raise or something so your pay stays the same and you don't feel the deposits.

It is pretty difficult. In some newer videos I stuffed the 100 envelope challenge in a different way. I added up the numbers on each envelope. That way you never stuff more than 18 dollars in an envelope. The savings is a lower amount when you’re done, but it made it fun

coming to this video to say that I work as a UC/Bagger at a local grocery. I used to use my tips for lottery tickets. but now, I'm saving them up until I quit or change positions. I started back on july 1st. since the end of last month or so, I have 70 dollars in tips saved so far

I want them to learn how to budget, as well as to understand that there are fun things to do that don't cost a lot; so then they also learn to keep an Emergency Fund for those unexpected events.
