Omg I wish I could have seen you rub that last stone, Justin, it was GORGEOUS!! 😍 I don’t think you should slice it through the middle though, keep it heavy and sturdy and rub and polish the other side so it’s a double sided opal!! It would be sooooo beautiful that way and much more valuable as well! I have always loved crystals but finding your channel has made me fall in love with opal and this craft!! Thanks for taking the time to share with us!! Much love to you and yours!! 🥰🙏🏼♥️💎💯

Just look at opals direct and global opals because some of these black opals are small but nice. Etsy too. Because there are black opals and then there are Justin black opals and you could always upgrade later to a Justin stone maybe.

I'm so glad you brought up that wonderful piece with the 3 color bars again. I watched you cut it the other night and it brought up a lot of questions to my untrained mind. .#1. I've watched you do some extremely fine slicing, and I didn't understand why you didn't slice the stone into 3 separate stones outside of keeping the karat weight. #2. Is there a way that a stone can be sliced for precision with a computer? Is that something that exists? BTW, entering the competition, if by 1 in a million chance I should win I'm having it set into a commissioned piece for my nose ring.

Just in.... Anyways. I buy lots of antiques and noticed lots of opals but surprising its not rings and pendents is animals cats butterfly's spiders beatles birds on brooches. Lots of small bits of opal like moasaces. Even if it's treated on gold with wire or platinum or I suppose even silver. It would be good to see modering designs again.. Lots of opal small looks better together and brooches are coming back.... Angel

I missed him now for the second Monday in a row. I only just started following him the Friday right before that Monday. I think these videos are so much fun to watch. And besides, opal is my favorite stone, next to rubies. My only daughter, my momma and my MawMaw, my Momma's momma were all born in October. I have a beautiful opal and diamond ring I got for a high school graduation gift from my parents. This was back in 83. Well, my daughter will get that ring. My oldest son who was born in July like myself will get the ruby and diamond ring I got for my 15th birthday. My youngest son will get the Alexandrite and ruby ring that I had bought so that I could have a ring with his birthstone, since he was born in June. It's my husband's birthstone too. My youngest and him even have the same birthday.

The last stone, you could slice the middle. Then if you take both sides off the upper section, you could make that into a double sided opal, whilst already having the first side which you have already cut

I would love to enter the drawing but the comments seem to be closed. I’ll leave one here. If I were lucky enough to get my hands on that beautiful gem I would bring it to my dear friend and jeweler Lee Angelo Marraccini in Charlottesville Virginia and we would put our heads together and come up with a stunning design to best showcase this lovely opal. I’m partial to rings, I love a bezel setting, ( my engagement ring is a bezel set 4 carat ascher cut diamond on a wide band in 18 k that he made for me, it’s just stunning) but I could also see this piece as a pendant. Definitely in 18k to bring out the richness of the yellow color. Probably a choker length. Or something else entirely, I would probably give him free artistic license to be honest. Also just want to say again how much I enjoy your videos. I think we’ve all found strange little niche interests during this stressful time to soothe our souls, and watching you cut opals is one of mine. I can’t tell you how calming it is to watch you work, I really enjoy it. Thank you.
