Some history on this car: Three of these cars have been accounted for and are currently held in very prominent collector hands. The last of the Atlantic Coupes, however, vanished without a trace. And if it still exists, it could be the most valuable car ever, worth at least $100 million. Bugatti’s original La Voiture Noire exited the company’s Molsheim factory in 1937. It was the second Atlantic Coupe built, destined to become the company’s brochure, display, and test car. As such, La Voiture Noire was never registered to an owner; it was also the only member of the quartet with a supercharged 3.3-liter inline-eight cylinder engine from the factory. The three other Atlantic Coupes had to return to the factory to be fitted with one. Jean Bugatti reportedly used La Voiture Noire as his personal car. In 1940, at the onset of the German invasion of France in World War II, Ettore Bugatti recognized that the Nazis' destructive path would likely destroy his creations. The apocryphal tale holds that "Ettore sent all his tools and cars on a train to Bordeaux to escape from the Nazi-occupied part of France. The Atlantic was loaded onto that train.” But according to Bravo, La Voiture Noire “never arrived.” It’s here that all traces of La Voiture Noire disappear. (Thx for all the comments and likes LMAO)

Fun fact: In sweden we over one night switched over to driving on the left side to the right side but the cars steeringwheel still sat at the right side untill a few years later when they also switched to be on the left side. This happened a long time ago i think it was in the 60:s

What happened is that before the french revolution peasants walked on the right side of the road and aristocrats walked on the left side of the road. So the real story behind this car: Back in 1936 they were building 4 type 57 sc Atlantic in their factory in France. One night a fire struck the factory and they've only manged to save 2 or 3 chassis both ended up being completed after a while. The 4th chassis (La voiture noire) was never found after the fire but there was no evidence either of being destroyed that night. Some say the factory was sabotaged in order to make an heist attempt. Others say that they preferred to consider the car missing instead of admitting their own fault (yk french arrogance) there are sources and leaks that prove that this car might be part of Brunei's Sultan private collection, or it is a barn find somewhere in France waiting to be discovered by some lucky fellow.

Where did you find such information? Let me enlighten you a bit. There's no story about any fire that struck the Bugatti factory in 1936, just that there was a strike from the employees regarding their working conditions under Ettore Bugatti's rule. As for the four Atlantics made, all of them were sold to their specific customers, except for the second one built, the mysterious $114 million "La Voiture Noire" (Black) Atlantic which exited the factory in October of 1936, then used as a show car for a couple of exhibitions in 1937 and then roamed the streets of northern France up until 1940, when it was returned to the factory by its respective "users" (i.e. Robert Benoist) before the Nazis took over France. In early 1941, it was supposed to be sent on a train to the second Bugatti residence near Bordeaux along with another bunch of Bugatti's exclusives, in order to avoid thefts and pillage, only it didn't get there or, even more, never sent there. Early this year, it was found out that the car had survived the second World War and came into the hands of a Belgian feller by the name of Gabriel Duhoux in 1947 or so, brought to him by a soldier whom wrecked it somehow and had it painted blue long before. Duhoux was the owner of that car for more than a decade, but as years went by and his final years of age would come, he gave it to a friend of his to have it displayed in its collectibles showroom, only to be found missing from there in 1999 by some of Mr. Duhoux relatives. From this point on, anything could've happened...

So Chassis No. 57453 the one we've been talking about is missing since 1938 and yes the fire actually destroyed the factory where the car was temporarily located. After that point nobody knows what it actually happened and any of that theories can be standing

@@vibbamusic2691 Change of chassis numbers was a very common thing back then, especially on Bugatti's cars, a thing that created a lot of confusion among everyone interested in those cars, myself included. "La Voiture Noire" was no exception and also there's a significant link between the change of its chassis number and registration plate. It started as 57453 with 5800NV3 registration plate, then in the summer of 1937 it received the 57222 chassis number and the 9219NV2 plate. Somewhere in 1938 or early 1939 it got the 57454 chassis number, taken from the 1937 Type 57G Tank and 1521NV4 plate. The last known registration plate known to be seen on La Voiture Noire was 1244W5, on the list of cars that were to be sent on the train to Bordeaux, and still rocking the 57454 chassis number. I can only theorise that, by the correlation between those two last digits 3-3, 2-2, then 4-4, it might've got a 57**5 chassis later on with the 1244W5 plate. But it is known for a fact that during Duhoux's ownership, it still bore the 57454 chassis number. Anyways, regarding the fires that broke out at the factory in 1939, the car was used frequently by Robert Benoist back then for travelling to motorsport events in France or surrounding countries, or to his residence in Paris, so it is very unlikely that the car was near the factory when the fire broke out. Unfortunately, there aren't many specific details about the 1939 fire, but if Jean Bugatti's precious "La Voiture Noire" would've been a victim of that, I'm pretty sure it would've been well documented by now.

About that "wrong/right side of the road" It wasn't an overnight change, Sweden did this in 1967 (search "Dagen H"), but the rest of Europe was already LHD and it was a rather long process It was changed by Napoleon who wanted to be as opposite to England as possible and changed walking side (cuz you know, no cars back then) to the left, there was also a rumour that it was meant to fish out English spies that would keep walking on the right hand side but idk Still, like 90% of the world is LHD, why is is wrong when it's the majority huh?
