Identity I did this but instead of using the M3 GTR I put the engine from that car into my starter car, which was a Nissan 180SX Type X. I couldn’t get rid of my starter car because you can’t sell it once you get it. So I was like, well if I can’t get rid of it, then I might as well just engine swap it. My theory is that the wrecked M3 from Carbon was imported to Palm City and restored after the events of Carbon and the car was shipped from country to country: from Carbon to Fairhaven then to Ventura Bay then Fortune Valley and finally it arrived in Palm City, it's just my theory and it makes the most sense because we saw the M3 in other NFS games completly fine

Everyone keeps saying that the M3 is a grip vehicle, but MW05's handling model made it possible to drift (kind of) no matter what you drive, including the M3. It was only properly grippy in Carbon when they introduced the car class system (tuner, muscle, exotic).
