Sir if it is asked calculate the velocity....then should we equate work done by 1mv^2 considering m to be mass of the small element u chose and then integrating??

After you get x, wouldn’t you have to multiply it by 2 since it’s mirrored across the y axis?

You're just using x for your radius, and the volume function is pi * radius^2.

each disk is the area of a circle and that equation requires radius instead of diameter. if the problem was using rectangles youd need to multiply by 2

why did he use 8-y? what i don't understand is that he's used y before for the equation, so how is the unknown be labelled y too? thanks!

because the equation he used before is a mapping of y for an x value. y is not a solvable unknown. y is a variable that changes

In case anyone has the same question, lbs is a unit of weight (mg), so it already takes gravity (g) into consideration.
