Kpop is not a really a genre of music, it’s an industry. It incorporates music from all over the world. BP songs utilize Phrygian mode often which gives it that “middle eastern” sound.

Dude, you HAVE to check out their album called “THE ALBUM”, it’s absolutely incredible! Every track is an amazing piece, really. Blackpink really embodies the motto “QUALITY over quantity” and I respect that so much! Also, highly suggest JENNIE’s solo song called “SOLO”. She was involved in the entire process start to finish. From the lyrics, to the “vibe” of the song, the sets, the outfits, the choreography, everything. It’s really her piece and it’s very, very nice.

I don't understand why you say they don't have artistic freedom. 1.- Jisoo is the visual of the group and she loves the performance and is currently about to launch a television drama where she is the protagonist. 2.- Lisa is the main dancer and she has one of the most followed dance channels on KZbin. 3.- Rosé is the main singer and this year she released his album as a soloist and is also participating in singing shows and she also has a lot of recorded material, but she is afraid to show it. This is stated in detail in the netflix documentary. 4.- Jennie was the first to play a solo song and also worked on the production and writing of the song Lovesick Girl. In addition to writing the covers Rap as So Hot and Sure Thing together with Lisa. Perhaps the biggest problem I see is that they do not get songs as often as we would like, but because of the quality and dedication they put on each of them, at least for me they justify it and that's why we have to talk about them now.

@@sonicyouth9992 While I do admire BTS (they're my fav boy group) and the freedom Hybe is giving them, even they are not TOTALLY free of what their company wants them to do. I think it's because he's been exposed to ONLY positivity and then when he watched that YG Ent/BLACKPINK video it was a huge bombshell for him. His frustration is definitely misplaced. I don't condone what YG does but I'd say YG is still one of the better companies out there. YG actually pays their artists the most fair out of all the Big 3. It's actually the smaller labels you have to worry about when it comes to mistreating their artists (but of course the big labels aren't innocent either). He just assumes BTS is exempted from the Kpop mold, when in reality that's how it's actually been. He just needs more research instead of jumping to conclusions too quickly. He gives YG more demerits than what they actually deserve. It's not a YG problem, it's an industry-wide problem. Again, his anger is TOTALLY misplaced. As always, BLACKPINK is put at the middle of it (it's honestly so frustrating how BLACKPINK is *always* the girl group of choice to attack first). I'm a multifandom so I don't care if yall toxic Armys and Blinks say otherwise. I'm not attacking any group. If you have at least a smidgen of reading comprehension you'd know that already.

@anaisc87333 жыл бұрын
@@JimGames You are right, even I who know the world of the k-pop industry, I do not approve of these methods, however it is the standard, and BTS is kind of an exception. This is why I made the personal choice to support the artists of Big Hit/HYBE and no one else (I'm not saying that the others are not talented but I do not prefer to engage in groups that have this kind of companies). Everyone tries to convince you that everything is fine, but you have the right to have your opinion, and people should respect that. Another reactor, Manny who makes good videos, made it clear that he doesn't like these methods either. He has made it known on several occasions that if people do not agree, they can refrain from watching and commenting on his videos, and that he reacts to what he wants. Maybe you should use the same method. Anyway, I still agree with you. 💜

Thanks for your reaction and I would like to encourage you to continue on your BP Journey. I saw your hate rant video about YG (that alone won you a lot of Blinks as fans). A few thoughts for your consideration. Blackpink fans dislike/HATE YG, much like you do. So, DON'T treat or think of Blackpink and the women of Blackpink as YG or even put them in the same sentence. Second, hate YG all you want, but he created Blackpink and gave them his best producer (that has written and produced ALL of Blackpink's songs), that wrote and produced many of YG's biggest hit songs BEFORE Blackpink. Third, you insinuate that YG gives their acts a limited shelf life. The cruel reality is that the public gives them a limited shelf life, unless they are exceptional. So, YG plans for the reality of cycling acts (like every other record company on the planet, and don't think that BTS' Big Hit Records will continue supporting an act once there is no public demand for that act). However, as long as the public stays with an act, YG will happily keep that goose for as long as the public dictates. BP is exceptional and YG will do whatever it takes to extend their contracts. Fourth, bitch all you want (and for good reason) about YG's business and marketing strategy, but when it comes to developing a BP song and making that song's music video, NO ONE does it better (yeah, I see you BTS, who I also love, but not as much), and that in itself is an artistic result. And, what I don't see you recognizing AT ALL, is the depth of the messaging in their music videos. Just go view English Priest reacts to Blackpink's How You Like That, where a Cambridge University graduate in Greek Mythology goes scene by scene explaining the intentional symbolism in that song, much having to do with female empowerment, female subjugation, and overcoming tremendous obstacles. HYLT also addresses the rash of idol suicides and Blackpink's response to the haters (Look at you (you worthless piece of hating shit), now Look at Me (beautiful, talented, successful bringing light, hope and inspiration to my fans and the world). Or the English Priest Reacts to Kill This Love, discussing the heavy doses of Greek mythological symbolism and Freudian psychological symbolism throughout the video. Of course there are tremendous visuals and tremendous music, but there is depth there as well. I am no defender of all of YGs actions, but I recognize the artistic results he created (from finding these girls from all over Asia & Australia, training them for 5 years, partnering them with a top producer, investing in crafts people that can design and build the sets, perform the camera work and direction and provide the costumes), is nothing short of amazing. It is the Hollywood studio system of the 1940's, with all the pluses (having a unified artistic vision combined with talented performers and talented crafts people) and minuses (limited freedom of individual expression). And you speak like anyone could have done this given enough money, well American record companies have orders of magnitude more money than YG, and by your logic, with all that money, they should be able to produce 10 acts like BP every year. But they have yet to produce one act IMO that has had the consistent quality production that BP has achieved. And there are several other companies as rich or richer than YG in So. Korea and none has come close to producing a female kpop group that approaches the global success of BP. Now you should recognize that YG is Finally giving BP members far greater independence by supporting their solo endeavors (which is a very wise choice I think). For example Rose just produced 2 MVs of solo performances, and many KZbin videos of her live performances of non-BP music. Also, Lisa has her Lilifilm productions, focusing on her passion for various forms of dance and is about to release her solo MVs. Jisoo is following her first passion, acting, being the star actress of a new kdrama and will produce her solo MV's later this year. Jennie of course has her solo effort (with more that 700 million views on KZbin, more than any other kpop solo act other than Psy). Without YG putting them together, we most likely would never have known anyone of these 4 wonderful women from very different parts of the world. So, I for one am grateful to YG for introducing me to these four wonderful women and their talents. But I also love the BTS story, the underdog that came out on top. And I am happy that there is a world where both BTS and BP exist and are both extremely successful. Finally, you should keep in mind that female groups in kpop or in Western countries are far less likely to be successful than boy groups. BTS is just a continuation of that male domination trend. BP is the great exception to challenge that historical trend and challenge for being the most successful musical act in the world (male or female, group or solo, kpop or global), but it took a literal army of talented support people, four super star talented women, a shit-load of money and the vision of YG to put them in that extremely rare space. They are likely to overtake the Beebs in KZbin subscribers shortly and take over the number 1 spot. So before you throw out the baby (BP) with the bath water (YG) keep in mind what BP and YG have accomplished for females in the Korean (super male dominated) and Western music scenes. Something you have not even faintly recognized in any of your commentary. Just stop and think about it, you are attacking the one company that has created a female group that is the greatest legitimate challenge to the continued male domination of kpop. As their song Forever Young rightly attests, "Blackpink is the Revolution". So justly criticize YG for its faults, but also praise YG for their great achievement, Blackpink, the greatest female kpop group of all time.
