Hey Bruce, so glad you found BLACKPINK, I found them after they debuted, back in 2016 when I was in a bad place and they truly helped me, gave me something to enjoy. To this day I watch them every day, even though they don't have a large discography their songs and videos are something you can watch over and over, and subconsciously I probably feel that I "owe" them something for helping me out of my darkness. Offstage the girls are incredibly humble, nothing like our music stars, no ego at all. Check out their award-winning Netflix Documentary BLACKPINK: LIGHT UP THE SKY to see their difficult journey plus some excellent concert footage!

Just to clarify the meaning of the song, which can be looked at as a "relationship-ending" song, but whose message is really about being introspective and changing yourself for the better. If you watch the four girls and read what they're talking about, they are each describing the reason why they get into toxic relationships. They realize that they must "KILL" this sort of behavior in order to have a healthier relationship: Jennie, on the black and white swans, discusses yin/yang, she feels that in order to have happiness there must always be sadness, and she knows that she is destined to repeat her mistake. Lisa, the "cereal killer" (sorry, couldn't resist) believes in quantity over quality. She wants it all, even though love to her is a short, sweet sugar high that leaves her feeling empty and needing more. Jisoo, in the church, realizes that she is weak, her stronger future self destroys her with a flaming arrow. And Rosé, driving the car, also causes her own destruction, running herself down in the road, the license plate on her car reads "EGO".

BP lyrics might not seem complex at a read, but they are designed with the mv in mind. Phd's have been written about this mv and others, especially HYLT, with the greek and roman mythology and up to 5 layers of hidden meaning. The beauty of BP songs is you can take them on any level, complex and simple. Write a book about an mv or just dance and have fun. Remember, BP is all about love.
