The violin piece is a famous classical piece called "La Campanella". The meaning of the song is twofold, they are "Shutting Down" their haters and they are also "closing the doors" on their older songs (each large prop and set in the video references an older music video) and "leveling up" to the newest version of BLACKPINK.

BLACKPINK is probably more "Western-friendly" than most other K-Pop artists. Their writer/producer Teddy Park is a rapper who grew up in New York and California before moving to S. Korea. He's great at blending Korean and English smoothly and creating addictive hooks, beats and drops. On top of that, all of the members are multilingual, three are fluent in English as they grew up in English-speaking countries (New Zealand, Australia and Thailand).

Two quick notes. Blackpink is Time magazines 2022 Entertainer of the Year and just days ago they were named one of this years Coachella's headliners. I've been following them since their debut in 2016 and every time I think they can't get bigger I'm proven wrong. What a journey it's been. SHUT DOWN achieved 50 million views in 24 hours, was #1 BILLBOARD HOT TRENDING, and was #1 on SPOTIFY GLOBAL for 6 consecutive days (historical record for a kpop song) the song is dedicated to haters because they believed that BLACKPINK It would no longer have the success of before since the group was absent for 2 years, but they returned in 2022 to break all records.

BLACKPINK is not conventional kpop, their music is super international, so much so that many when listening to BLACKPINK for the first time do not realize that it is a kpop group, that is why they are the artist with the most subscribers in the world because their music attracts everyone type of public, for example, many do not like kpop, but if they like BLACKPINK, they are unique.

Lisa, you know already, was on the dock (call back to their Playing with Fire mv). She is of Thai descent, born and raised in Thailand. Jennie on the tank (a call back to their Ddu-Ddu-du mv (music video)), is of Korean descent. Born in S Korea but spent 5 years in New Zealand. Rosè, on the Earth (a call back to their Whistle mv), is of Korean descent. Born in New Zealand but grew up in Australia. Has an aussie accent. Jisoo (w the umbrella a call back to Ddu-Ddu-du), is of Korean descent. Born and raised in S Korea. They always mix in English with the Korean. They have several songs that are all English actually. They are all fluent in English though Jisoo is definitely more comfortable speaking Korean.

Just to help with familiarization, in order of appearance: Lisa (Lalisa Manobal) is the one dancing in the rain on the pier in the opening scene. Jennie Kim is the one sitting on the bling-bling tank. Lisa again appears with her own dog (a doberman named "Love"). Jisoo Kim (pronounced like G-Sue) is the one with the pink umbrella and Rosé (Roseanne Park (Korean name Chaeyoung Park)) is the one wearing the furry lime-green coat while sitting on a black-and-pink globe. Lisa is from Thailand. Jennie is from Korea (but spent several years living in New Zealand). Jisoo is born and raised in Korea. Rosé is Australian (Korean ethnicity), but was born in New Zealand.

Certainly, nobody does Kpop like BlackPink. Eversince day one of their debut, even "a blind Kpop stan could see" that BlackPink was already showing amazing standards, professionalism and greatness way beyond the usual Kpop offerings then, what a shocker. Today (7yrs. later), it's hard to keep track of all their enviable achievements. BlackPink had amazed me then, even more so now .... They're the Best of Kpop and they've been topping music charts all around the world. Queens.

Welcome to this rabbit hole know as blackpink. looking foward to more reactions if you enjoy kpop another suggestion that might intrest you if you never heard of them is BabyMetal they are Jpop/Metal band (the genre is referred to as Kawaii metal). Its a bit shocking at first but once you get over the original stunlock i think you will enjoy it. the recently released new music, but i would suggest to react to their older stuff first. oh and the live preformances are absolutely amazing
