They 1st preformed this when they were still trainees. They needed to showcase their vocals, harmonization as a group, & creativity. The girls wrote the rap part, for the “creative” section. They preformed for their main boss YG, & several other big shots in the room. They performed this again on this stage, as newly debuted rookies. Along with 2 other performances, that you should check out. They KILLED IT in all 3 performances.

FYI, they didn't even do a rehearsal for this live performance not even on backstage... but the thing is these particular MIGUEL song was indeed part of their favorite songs, they oftenly covering so many western songs especially when they still in trainee days right before they becoming BLACKPINK... Also these performance was just part of their apperance when they got invited to one of well-known South Korea's music talk shows called "PARTY PEOPLE" (you can see the neon sign on the background behind them). So when the main host asking them to do a direct performance they just suddenly decide to bring this song cuz like i said the song itself was part of their favourite song, that's why no wonder they be lightly brought these song with their own vibe into it... haha somehow it's funny to see you gravitated the most toward both of LISA and ROSÉ cus most of the time it's always wether LISA or JENNIE cuz both them are the rapper of the group. There is a story behind this song. Like another commenter said, they did not even have to rehearse this song backstage. How is that even possible??? Because this is one of the songs the girls used to sing together in their dorm, back in their training days. Jennie and Lisa eventually experimented, wrote and added in their own back and forth rap lyrics that you hear towards the end. This kind of singing and harmonization did not come by accident, it was natural because to them, it was one of their favorite songs to jam to, in private together. Their comfort level with each other really shows in this video.

Sorry for two comments. When you’re a kpop trainee you have monthly evaluations and you get sent home after or you pass. They have multiple things in them.. styles of dance, singing, rapping etc. the girls did this song for one of their evaluations with Lisa and Jennie writing their own middle raps you heard. This show is called Party People which is run by the head of JYP who is a rival big 3 kpop label. The girls are with YG which is typically more rap oriented. JYP is a big big Miguel fan and found out the girls had done this so after they debuted he asked for them to perform it on his show. He’s the dude rocking out in the black in the middle of the performance.
