Finally!!! Someone finally understood the song! Totally agree that it's the girl who wanted out! The whole album is about destroying the stereotype that girls are subject to the approval of men! Girls are persons and no one should insist on what they want on other persons! Pink Venom is a woman with fangs, Shut Down is a call to stop the stereotyping, all the other songs basically say the same thing, that girls won't conform to the status quo, and Ready for Love practically means if someone understands them and accepts them for who they are, then they're ready to love that person as well. . . Thank you sir!!! You nailed it!

I am happy with what you described. I can see that this song related to many people, women and men who their partner is really self-center. They tried their best in their relationship and finally they had enough. They have their self-worthy and strong enough to move on, believe in themselves that it was a good choice to leave and promise themselves to become the happiest girl or person(without this toxic relationship). I think that you may have misunderstood the meaning of the song. The women are not empowered and owning the situation at all. Rather, they are saying that they will stay in their broken relationship but they will put on a happy face in front of their partner, and the only way that they can do that is by drinking and getting high. That's why they sound so sad while they're singing. 😔

This song contains contradictory massages, so it is difficult for us to interprer. I interpret this girl as trying to pretend to be happy in appearance. She cries, but pretends to be a minor problem that can be solved with a bottle of alcohol. But Jisoo is talking about her inner self that he can't hear. Jisoo's song is her sincerity from the bottom of her heart and a self-hypnosis.

My take on the song is that it's a breakup. Putting on a brave face, and giving the appearance of happiness, despite the pain inside... trying to convince yourself that you can "stop the tears if you want to" (hence the repitition), and act as if the relationship never happened... Lisa's reference to alcohol, and Jisoo's to a joint is about numbing the pain of the heartbreak.
