As a sailor, I too visit local marina's on a sunny day to observe. It's beautiful to watch experienced captains and crew, but absolutely hilarious to watch it fail. On a serious note, I also observe because I can help prevent deadly accidents by saying something if it gets to that point. The only dangerous mistake I observed in this video was the little girl wrapping the stern line around her wrist and I absolutely would have gone over to help. Would rather look like a weirdo who angers a father's ego than watch a girl get pulled into the drink between a boat and a dock. That's an easy call.

I worked as a dock boy when I was a kid and can honestly say that this really isn’t that bad. I’ve seen 19 tows happen in one day due to idiots. Of course, they are horrible and need to learn a little more before they even try to launch a boat. I’m still a firm believer that if you can’t get the trailer in the water after pulling forward 2 times, you shouldn’t be allowed to own a boat.
@MiamiBroChannel4 жыл бұрын
True. I mean even being new or a beginner you should at least know not to prep your boat at the docks and it should be done prior to getting to the dock. Their launching skills were not that good as well. One guy didn't back his trailer enough and his boat wasn't even in the water while he was trying to propeller it off his trailer and the other guy kept crashing against the dock. Miami Bro Channel I didn’t say they did a good job, just not nearly as bad as I’ve seen. If we had camera phones back then, there would have been some good footage of full roller trailers... Jackknifes galore, and of course the infamous drain plug issues. But the worst didn’t even make it to the water. The people in the video had no etiquette and didn’t have much common sense, but I’ve seen a lot worse. Like the guy who couldn’t get his jet ski trailer down a 3 lane wide ramp that was empty, was cussing at the people waiting in the staging area for being too close (50+ feet at the closest) and finally he just lost it and floored it in reverse. Jackknifed the trailer, and just shoved it and the truck into the water. Then everyone had to wait for 4 hours for that to get cleaned up before anyone could use the ramp. Police had to taze him and haul him off. No drugs in his system, he just lost it.

The guy with the F150 needs to go to a school parking lot on a weekend with no other vehicles there to practice backing up. It's something he needs to learn to back down the ramp. Any time I back down the ramp, I always back down with the driver side of the truck next to the dock, that way either I can use the mirrors or stick my head out and look where the trailer/boat is in relation to the dock.
@MiamiBroChannel4 жыл бұрын
jdtractor man that’s a good method. Never thought of that since I’m already pretty good at backing up. But definitely a good strategy. That is good advice to everyone. I taught all of my kids to parallel park in the high school lot. Backing is easy once you have the basics. Wheel base, power and traction at a boat ramp is paramount. I have had a fail or two over the years. A busy ramp can be hair raising. Back in my 20's I cleaned out the bed of a pickup pulling the trailer off of the ramp. Granted it was a friends truck and 4 speed on the column. We laugh about it now... Damned first and reverse are real close together. ;)
@MiamiBroChannel4 жыл бұрын
Jamie Minton we all have our fail stories bro lol I forgot the plug once because I was so caught up being upset because someone stole the handle off from my trailer. So once I got the boat off the trailer, my wife told me the back of the boat was sinking 😳 so quickly realized I forgot the plug and that’s why water was coming in the back. I had to jump on my boat and throttle the engine to get the boat back on the trailer since I didn’t have the handle to pull it back up. Luckily, all that happened right there at the docks. From that day forward, that’s the first thing I do. Put the plug in. Lol so yeah, now I look back and laugh at the situation. Thanks for commenting.

He definitely needs practice, BUT I will say that the tow vehicle makes a very big difference. I launched with a Tacoma 4x4 for about 20 years, it had excellent visibility and was cake to back up with. I bought a new Colorado and the rearward visibility is horrible and it definitely takes more concentration as you cannot see nearly as much of the trailer, through the windows or the mirrors.

I can understand what you're attempting to do here, which is to simply make a video to put on your channel. But honestly I didnt see anything going on here that even the most experienced boaters didnt go through before learning correctly. You see man, not everyone was fortunate enough to "be taught how to do things like this" yet they have a right to learn, and to become more educated and experienced. IE ... if the boat out in the water was waiting on all the incoming boats to clear out before he attempted to dock.. then he doesn't understand that he could've tied up anywhere out of the way, went to get his truck and got in line to load. As far as the little girl .... man, she did great! And he's a good dad for showing trust in her (teaching). To me he was merely being cautious to move slowly and keep the boat close to the dock, I get it. Now, regarding the staging area ... you're spot on! As for myself, I grew up loading and unloading boats.. I was fortunate enough to be "dad taught". So I offer to help when I see people trying... especially when they have their family there; its important that kids see their dad be able to do things, so being tactful is a better way of offering help. My opinion....

Righty Tighty you’re right on in your comment and I appreciate you taking the time in commenting as well. True, at first this took time but I knew at least one thing for sure...never prep your boat while trying to launch your boat exactly at that same moment because she will delay everyone else behind you. That and the plug lol 😂 never forget the plug. Anyhow, this was my first FAIL video I made and although I’ve been criticized by a few viewers and/or followers for not helping, I came here this day with the sole purpose of recording. Bro...I've seen some pretty crappy videos of people doing just that and believe it or not they actually get the most followers and viewers. Look...to each it's own. I tried to make my videos a bit different than those I've seen by commenting on what they are doing wrong and also suggesting what they could have been doing instead. In the video I try to say what they should be doing, with a little comedy and sarcasm, but I get my point across. It's not just a "I'm making fun of you video" I myself learned by watching various instructional, what to do, what not to do, FAIL videos, etc. and I learned from all of them. I get your point though, but I was there with one purpose and that was to record. Any other given day if I was going out on my boat and I saw someone in need of help, trust me, I would and I have helped because there is always room for error every single time. Anyhow, I plan on making some different videos of me actually helping people out when they are messing up. It's not easy bro! As you can see (maybe you haven't noticed though) I just started this and only have 284 subscribers at the moment (and growing) but I am doing this all on my own. I don't have a camera person following me around. It's not easy to approach someone while holding a camera and try and help them out. I will definitely try to figure out a way on how to do that. But if you saw my full video, I actually give helpful advice that honestly in many other FAIL videos you don't see that. Anyhow, thanks for taking the time in commenting . Yeah I remember that too. When I was a new boater and came to the ramp the first few times...it is extremely stressful because you're trying so hard to do things right. I watched so many videos, instructional videos and also FAIL videos and they were all actually very helpful at showing me what to do, and what not to do. These people make boating look so difficult. It's not that hard to back down a trailer or boat
@dwightstewart71814 жыл бұрын
You've obviously never launched a boat. At the top of that ramp, you will lose much of your view of the boat as it starts down while you're still on a level surface. You won't regain that full view until your truck starts down too. All that can be quite disconcerting to the new boater. It's at this point most get their boats out of alignment while backing.

Strangely in Madison, WI we seem to have less boats out on the water since the pandemic started. I expected that there would be more boating but the ramps in my area are not in heavy use. Maybe they are selling their boats while the prices is high and will buy when the prices come down. Watch these videos I have learn several things, if I buy a boat: 1) Get Accident Insurance on the boat; 2) get towing/rescue insurance on the boat; 3) get a plenty big FWD to tow the boat; 4) Get a good trailer with a long enough tongue; 5) Get boating instructions including proper trailer use instructions; 6) Twin engines; 7) Thrusters; at minimum a bow, probably a stern; 8) If I can not afford to do this correctly, rent a boat, with and experienced captain if need be.

I wanted to sell my 2018 boat for 40k …only 3 years old and had it on the market and no one wanted to pay more than 28k. It’s ridiculous. Guess Deck Boats are not in the market now. Everyone at one time has been where you are, be safe and take care ..... And Have Lots of Fun ..... Food for thought, always try to do a left-back ( drivers side ) when backing a trailer, If you need you can ask for help watching your blind-side ( passenger-side ) when backing. I’m a pro at backing trailers but my Grampa put me on a riding mower with a little red dump wagon behind it when I was 7 years old. I would ride that mower for hours just backing up that little wagon and driving it around the property! Not all people have the opportunity to practice the way I got to when I was little and for that, when I see someone at a boat ramp having trouble I offer them help. People don’t realize how hard learning to back a trailer is if you’ve never done so before, especially when you started at a young age and it just comes natural in your adulthood! I wouldn’t say sitting around criticizing people who are trying without offering them any advise or assistance when you actually know about a situation is very considerate but hey, this day in life it’s all for the views and that’s what’s wrong with this world. Too quick to judge yet so slow to act!

So the following day when I was going to launch, I was so concerned about not having that and forget to put the plug in omg ... luckily it happened so fast I was able to turn the engine on and drive the boat back on the trailer. @@MiamiBroChannel - LOL!! I had a kid who was mentally handicapped remove my plug after I put it in. I was busy following my mental checklist and didn't see him go remove it. Backed down ramp and was about pull boat off trailer and noticed boat was low in the water. Boat was slightly floating in back before and was now against trailer. Jumped off fast and got in truck. Barely was able to pull boat up ramp with weight of water added with 4x4 in low. Thankfully it was mid tide so only a few feet of algae. Bilge was completely full of water. Took 20 min to drain out. Sat there scratching my head knowing I put in the plug and it was gone. While waiting for bilge to drain the kid came back over and gave me the plug back. Lost my sh-t, then realized he was not mentally normal. After that I added a double check drain plug to the checklist (last step) before I back down. Live and learn. Also bought two extra plugs just in case. Also added some JB weld putty to the toolbox to fix a hole underwater. I literally almost sank at the boat ramp. Can never be too prepared on the water.

Got out and grapped my rope attached to my bed and walked it out then tied it up. That rope from the bow to my truck was a lifesaver. I had a 24" formula V . Had to get it deep before it floated.
@MiamiBroChannel3 жыл бұрын
That’s how it’s done 👍 although it can be tricky if there is a strong current and you don’t have the back poles to keep your boat from floating to the side. But yeah, typically that’s how it should be done. Thanks for commenting.

@@MiamiBroChannel I am however in Oregon and launched in marinas off the Columbia River. Not much current rather than wind
@MiamiBroChannel3 жыл бұрын
@@0004ogre ufff wind can be a big factor too. I remember this weekend I launched my boat and was having a hard time because it was super windy here in Miami. Luckily I had some friends with me to help me out but if I had to do it alone, I would have done it the way James said above. But I would have had a long rope ties to the middle and front of my boat to make sure it didn’t sway to the side. Trust me I know how hectic these things can be. By the way, this was my first video of ramp fails, check out my other videos. I also show you how it should be done with my boat. I provide instructions for those who are new and are learning. Thanks for commenting and watching.

Have you seen Swift drivers back into loading docks or truck stop parking? They have major problems backing in anything. I think that the Swift driver application states that you must be incompetent at backing up or be an inexperienced boat owner for their application to be accepted.

Its hard to watch The KZbinr filming is trying to send good messages However the chocking reality is the fact that in America, you can buy a 35' Trailerable bigass boat, as long as you have a Driver's License You need ZERO trainning on how to operate a vehicle towing a 12,000 Lbs boat/trailer, zero trainning on how to launch and retrieve the boat on a ramp, zero trainning on how to operate a boat in a canal, lake or ocean, etc., etc. All you need is a Drivet's License Thats Mericaaa! Unfuckinbelievable!

I've watched hundreds of hours of Black Point launch from several KZbinrs. It seems like no one in Fla. knows how to stop a boat from moving by simply taking a wrap with the dock line on a piling. They're always standing upright pulling on the dockline.

Michael Hunt Hahahah funny bro. Of course I have. I’m a boater myself. Still kind of new though. I’ve owned my boat now for 2 1/2 years. Go check out my other videos where I actually show how to launch out and also arrive back. I started recording this video and just happened to have those two people there making this video possible. Granted I know everyone can be new at this but I was trying to show what boaters should not do. That’s why I called it a FAIL video. I’ve learned from instructional videos but as well by seeing others in fail videos. Boat prices have sky rocketed due to an almost 50% jump in sales to people who never owned a boat before. So now we have the ramps filled with people like this that no nothing. Can't wait till the millions of new boaters get sick of it after a year or two and flood the market with basically new, slightly used, boats that will make prices drop like a rock.

oldrider steve Steve thanks for commenting. Yeah it’s definitely a stressful hobby and it’s always something new depending on the day. Thanks for commenting. I’ve been boating now for only 2 years so I’m no where near been a pro. Yet I know basics, prep your boat at the prep station. If it isn’t stressful enough having to remember ever step you need to take, having been backed up at the marina because someone decided to prep their boat for 30 minutes doesn’t help. I am a firm believer that you should load, stage the vessel like put the hull plugs in, check all gauges are operating, inspect the engine and hull at home, and pre-run the engine before you leave the house. At the ramp staging area you remove the stern straps, ready your lines, especially the one holding the boat to the trailer so it won't float away when it drops into the water, then line the boat out of the way while I go park trailer and truck so others can do their thing. This is more courteous to others waiting to launch or load their boat. Those that don't and take forever at the ramp are rude and ignorant. Yet you'll still have some asshole trying to fix his engine that won't start and run right in the ramp, or their people will make unteen trips loading suntan lotion ,towles, soda , water, chips, whatever even though their might be a place on the dock to pull the boat out of the way so others can launch or load. I always said, "There are many who can afford a boat, but that doesn't mean they should." MORONS SHOULDN'T BE ON THE WATER, GO PLAY IN THE TUB! As far as the waiting to come in guy, well that's his own fault there was at least 3 other ramps empty. What he has to have a special ramp he only can use? Oh yeah, I have a 23' walk around cuddy which I launch and load alone with no issues, but I also have been on and owned boats since I was very young with my father. It's easy to sit around and make fun of folks having a bit of trouble as they might be new or some other variable that comes into play that made the situation go slightly wrong, Nice video but to be brutally honest, instead of shooting videos at the ramp looking to criticize what others are doing, go get a boat and give it a try or GO TO THE FUCKING BEACH! When I am at the ramp and see some of this while I am waiting, I shut off my truck and lend a hand so they can be on their way either in or out making everyone's day a little better.

Seriously...I mean I would imagine they would have practiced before getting to the marina. I know for certain they must have been super nervous doing this and it becomes stressful too. But come on, practice a little before getting to this point. Even when I began as a new no boater I practiced and had a plan in mind as to what I was going to do once I got to the ramps.
