Another cracking video Tommy, looks like you had a very long day there. Those LED lights might be more energy efficient, but I always think they look a lot 'colder' than the old incandescent types.

Thanks Alan. You are right about the LED Lights, They tend to lack that 'Warm' glow.

The Giant Glitterball steadfastly resisting the wind and waves. The weather made for some great lighting effects.

I agree with you the weather certainly gave the video a nice backdrop at times.

Excellent footage thank you for this. Was 707 not meant to be relaunched that day? I couldn’t see it at all.
@mollsmyre5 жыл бұрын
No 707 didn't make an appearance. Technical problems I think
the illumination lights seem to be getting less and less each year in the 70s and 80s Blackpool use to have those large light up figures down the golden mile
@mollsmyre5 жыл бұрын
You could be right. It certainly looks like there is less than in past years.

I thought exactly the same.

Until I read these comments, I hadn't noticed that the lights had been erected at all, until dusk fell. They are less imposing than they used to be, to the extent that the designs are now virtually unnoticeable during the daytime. Many of the larger and bolder displays on the Promenade appear to have been abandoned. The Illuminations used to be the 'icing on the cake' for the holiday trade. It seems that Blackpool now cannot even depend on that any more. The fact is that since the 1990s, people visiting the town to view the lights drive through the displays without even stopping to buy fish & chips. This has inflicted more damage to the local economy. Such visitors bring no benefits to Blackpool at all.

strange to think that some of these trams have made it to American rail museums!
