Do you struggle with any of these 5 hands? Also, here are the 5 things that winning poker players do, that losing poker players don't do: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXSYoImbgqyWp7M
@RaulGroom2 жыл бұрын
I think 98s is the weirdest hand in NLHE. It flops extremely well and makes a lot of strong hands but it also makes the wrong end of a straight in a lot of situations where opponent could have AK. On the kinds of wolfpacky flops that it likes, it often makes a fairly weak bluffcatchy-type holding in a situation where opponent is going to be reluctant to fire as aggressively as they should because your range smashes the board. Also it was the hand I was holding in the only >$1k live bad beat I ever took in a cash game, so I have a little bit of a grudge. It taught me not to trap out of position multiway though!

I've made plenty of mistakes with AQ and Jacks. Lost half my stack I'd piled up in a recent tournament. Early position, Jacks, raised pre, called two behind. Flop is 3 low cards and I lead and guy behind shoves. I even said "feels like Queens". Kings or Aces he certainly re-raises pre flop. Older guy like me, had a good stack, should have laid it down. Didn't. Yep. Queens. Tilted off the rest. I've played enough to know better, but not much since pandemic. But didn't trust my read, which really wasn't that hard. Taken a while to get over it.

One thing to remember about Pocket Jacks is that trip Jacks is never the nuts on the board when going to the river. For example if a jack is the high card on a non paired board you are guaranteed to have at least 3 cards to a straight on the board. Otherwise if a jack is the high card but there isn't a straight on the board there will be a paired card so you could be going against quads. Only pocket Q's or higher is it possible to have trips being the top hand on the board.
@DynamicMateTV Жыл бұрын
How about AJo? For me it has often been problematic preflop - as its not always obvious if the raiser under the gun (or guy 4 betting you) has AQ or AK or even QQ and JJ.
@thechertel2 жыл бұрын
I enjoy the format you put out, ie very good information for very newer players, but I would really like to see you get into more in depth and slightly advanced gameplay. I feel like if you play the way I've seen in you're videos, any player who is pays attention to player habits can read your gameplay very easily
@larryl24062 жыл бұрын
There is a moment in poker in which they figure you out and you figure out that they have figured you out. Its what you do in that moment thar matters. If you shell down, you've lost. But if you understand how to use your table image, you can use their "genius reading skills" as a weapon against them.
@RaulGroom2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think one thing that is a subtle little thing is that if you are reg vs reg and you both know the other is reasonable, there are times to 4bet AQo as a bluff. Esp like late position open, SB 3bet, AQo can be a nice 4bet bluff because the hands you don't have playability against are going to 5bet jam and you can fold. Meanwhile you are going to fold out quite a few hands that probably won't pay you off if you hit your queen, like 77-99 type hands. You don't want to do this with AQs because it's kind of a waste of AQs' nice playability on coordinated high boards but with AQo you should be doing this at least some of the time in order to have some 4bet bluffs to get some folds from some hands that are ahead of you
@bigstone5709 Жыл бұрын
It doesn’t bother me if someone “figured me out.” It allows me to exploit their newfound confidence. Lose $59 now and win $250 a few hands later. Once that happens, they typically go on tilt and it’s game over. Remember, success in NLH is all about being able to handle the swings, bad beats, etc. Most people think they can, but their gameplay proves otherwise.

If you bet AQs from UTG...with the exception of the blinds, looking at board texture do not cbet it with nothing. If you do and you get called..slow down. All of these hands are about position, equity, board texture and how are in post flop which is why i never open call if i play and im selective even more against a bet preflop.

Good advice for new beginners. Not detailed enough or solid enough for even novice-intermediate level training imo. I hate you using “light 3 bet” as a synonym for 3 bet bluff. I think of light 3 bet as bottom of a wider linear value range vs stations. Also AQ is actually a great 4 bet bluff candidate, I think GTO solvers agree. It’s actually my main 4 bet bluffing hand in live poker vs the right opponents. Rarely 4 bet bluff live though at my stakes.

AQ is an excellent bluff 4 bet hand, it blocks AA and QQ. Some regs over 3bet 15÷ up to 30÷. They are great targets, because AQ is often still ahead and its an easy fold to a shove. I call vs that opponent in position with AQ. Versus TAGs, nits and recreational players AQ is an easy fold OOP and the suited combo an easy call IP. AQ is also a great cold 4 bet bluff candidate in the BB vs LP RFI and SB 3bet with 8+ 3bet÷.

Poker is a game that takes patience, guts, and a lil luck. It's almost impossible to consistently profit without all 3 factors going your way. Can u win with patience alone? No way. Can u win with guts? Sure, but not every time. Can u win with luck? I won't even answer that one lol as ANY poker player can attest to someone getting lucky on them. Point is, even with a decent plan, there are still many things to decipher in the game of poker to consistently stay ahead of the rake. No book or coaching will singularly take you to profit land. Love the analysis and it's a great starting point for recs who wanna tighten up their pre flop game.

Pocket 10's and 9's have been doing really well for me. Pre flop when I shove I've been beating Ace, King Ace Queen , Ace Jack more than not. Pocket 8's when Top 16 or less gets more better and better. I like to go all in With Pocket pairs 10's and Up.....When I slow play AA, KK, QQ I end losing ALOT. So I slow play those hands very Rarely. I'd rather go all in With a few limpers , 1 raiser and try to get a call a isolate . It works out for me better. Pocket QQ and Ace , Jack suited called me All in.....he hit a Jack on the Flop.....but that was it I got a nice double up + a few limps . Now there was a King on the Flop as well ...had I slow played that hand and the guy bet BIG or called my Big bet I would put him on the King and not the Jack.....and I would of have folded if I didn't hit my Queen on the Turn...since I went heads up and we had even chips ( I had a little more ) we jus flipped our cards and ran it out and the Queens held....
