The monsters being a manifestation of the drunk mother and Teddy of the father is so simple but so good! This plot had me on a chokehold when the game came out back in middle school

What a sweet, but sad game. It was so sad to hear the dad's voice at the end, knowing that the child gave Teddy his voice so he could feel less lonely throughout the mom's abusive episodes. So glad the kid got to safety ❤ Very lovely let's play as always, Rose!

I personally believe that all the happy core memories were actually with Papa, but Baby has got them confused because they were taken away from him. I like to think this game is a commentary on how parental courts favour women so heavily, that an alcoholic abusive mother can get custody of Baby while Papa is completely shut out. In the end, Baby, Teddy, and Papa are reunited though, so we have a happy ending!

I see it as the mom tries to be a good mother but her addiction 'rules' over her thus the baby is terrified because his mother goes from loving to a bumbling, grumpy monster. And of course the father is extremely loving and just wishes the best for both his ex-wife and his son.

Congrats on beating the game! There IS, however, a short Prequel DLC that gives a little insight on what baby life was before the separation. I won't say any spoilers, but I feel like it does put the main game's narrative and ending in a different light...
